Q:
Which sigil - force or air for daggers?
depends on your build and your strategy. i’ve been using Air on a high crit chance backstab build and it is definitely very effective.
Air is more.gratifying.to me personally but u should measure how much damage you.do in 5-8 seconds and see if 5% increase of that damage is better than the average lightning crit.
I’ve been using Strength in spvp. 30% chance on crit to gain might, doesn’t seem to have an internal cooldown at all. With a 50% crit chance and fast dagger attack speed, you can have several stacks of might permanently.
Might is only more useful for condition damage thieves. Otherwise stick with quickness on crit or sigil of air IMHO
Wouldn’t air on offhand be a waste? it only applies when you crit with blossom no? Cause by seeing thief’s attack animation, the main auto attack skill doesn’t use the offhand weapon(could be totally wrong here)

Sigils affect attacks from both weapons.not just the weapon its on
Alright, thanks for the answers.
I just tried it out:
Force sigil backstab: 6500
Air sigil backstab: 6000 + 1100 from lightning(when it procs)
I like the superior of fire…? It’s the one with the area fire blast, it’s so nice. With it, I can drop a mob with steal, buff, backstab on my magic find Armor set. With my dps set, I’m sure I can do more damage.
Sanctum of Rall
burst build D/D go for air and force. the air for me does 2k damage min each procs.
I use both, one for each dagger. Do you guys use two of the same on one dagger or?
I will try that too and let you know.
A sigil of air on offhand will not proc at all, even on offhand attacks. It has to be on your mainhand.
SoForce works regardless of what hand it’s on. So I’d say use both.
No, Air in offhand procs too. Problem is I don’t know if having 2x air will proc more times than having only one. It seems that it doesn’t matter if you use Air + Force or Force + Air no matter on which weapon you use it.
So here’s the complete list:
Force+Force sigil backstab: 6500
Air+Air sigil backstab: 6000 + 1100 from lightning proc
Air+Force sigil backstab: 6100 + 1100 from lightning proc

On Crit effects work on all abilities, it doesn’t matter on which weapon they are.
Direct buffs (+dmg, crit chance) work only for the weapon skills gained by the weapon the Sigil is on.
On Crit effects don’t stack, 2 air sigils will have the same effect as one.
So the best would be Force on main hand and Air on off hand I suppose on this setup.
If you want 0 lightning procs, yes.
If you want 0 lightning procs, yes.
As I said, air procs even when applied in off hand. Not sure why moderator deleted my post saying I wasn’t contributing although I was doing just that, reporting that it does work after testing it ingame…
Personally I go accuracy and air, because the accuracy rune gives my abilities a 5% chance of doing double damage per activation.
While 5% more damage and 5% more crit with double damage on crit is the same thing when it comes to DPS, it’s not the same thing when it comes to bursting and having a higher probability of doing more damage per hit in shorter encounters.
If I’m running a 100% crit from invis build I might go force but probably not. Still want to be able to spam dancing dagger and tripple crit.
The moderators do odd things sometimes…
And for some reason my test results came out completely different. If I equip two pistols and put a superior sigil of air on the offhand gun it will not proc regardless of what I do. 1, 3 or 4 = no lightning procs. If I switch them around 1, 3 and 4 ALL proc lightning… how did you test it?

Quote:
- Sigils that hold a charge per kill cannot be stacked (i.e. +5 power per kill and +5 condition damage per kill) one or the other shows up.
Charging and non charging sigils can be stacked.
- Sigils that trigger on critical hits can trigger on any critical hits; the critical does not need to be scored with the associated weapon’s skills (e.g. a character with an offhand weapon imbued with a Sigil of Rage can still gain quickness when critting with their first three skills)
- Sigils that have a chance to trigger on critical hits do not stack their chance percentages (e.g. two major sigils of fire – 20% chance on crit each – do not give a 40% chance on crit).
Because descriptions on wiki are always accurate…
Anyone that has tested it and gotten different results?
100% positive you can trigger sigil of air in offhand using regular autoattack. I just did it in the mists on a dummy. It is really easy to test for yourself. Takes all of 5 minutes max.

30 crit strikes, 20 acrobatics, 15 trickery, no traits other than 2 init/10. No gear other than 2 pistols, pvp sigil of superior air on offhand. Left it on autofire headshot for a few minutes and came back to seeing 0 procs. That’s… strange.
I like rage (for quickness) and Air (lightning strike) myself for my daggers. in PVE, I run P/P with a rage and fire (flame burst). For WvW I use D/D and SB with a Bloodlust Sigil.

Do 2 sigils of force stack for a total of 10% or not?

I don’t know what’s wrong with yours but I just test it and Air works on offhand pistol, while using headshot:
I have another question. Do 2 same sigils share a cooldown? For example D1 has quickeness and D2 has quickness. In theory can they proc one behind another? Or when one pops, the other one goes on cd too? ( hidden cd ofc )
I run with a superior sigil of luck in my sword and superior air in my pistol. Yes air procs on any skill I use.
As for 2 sigils of air, I wanna know If they:
1) trigger independently (like 2 lighhtning strikes in a row)
2) share the same cooldown
I doubt that they stack chances additively though.
Sigil of Rage on mainhand
Sigil of Superior Bloodlust offhand.
thats what I wana know about 2 same sigils, do they share a cooldown
It still does not say if they share cooldowns. The quickess has a cooldown for 45 sec. So if it procs on main hand, is the off hand cooldown started as well? ( Taking into account you have quickess procs on both weapons )
I suppose they share the cooldown. But you can try that for yourself in mists.
Any sigil that has Cooldown doesn’t work together not just the one with the same type. If one proc then it will force the other to go into Cooldown too. Therefore all sigil share Cooldown.
It was working during Beta but was changed on the released.
i’m founding double sigils of frailty very good with backstab build
