Define “best Thief”.

The one with the most achievement points? The one with the most won tournaments? The one who has the highest dungeon experience? The one with the most WvW-kills? The one with the highest WvW-rank? The one who’s highest up in the PvP leaderboards? The one with the most forum posts? The one who brags the most about how skilled he is? Or maybe a mix of all of those? Or something else?

I am the best thief theorycrafter to refer to.

Not just because of my 1+ years experience and my meticulous journey to get the most out of every trait and utility, but because I have the largest selection of gifs and other stupid pictures.

Triggerless is probably the best thief in the game

You can’t have a #1 thief. You have to break it down by gamemodes. The best pvp thief is almost guaranteed to be mediocre at best in pve.

We can decide this with a 1v1 tournament of some kind.

I am not saying he is the best.. but as far as what I have seen from videos and footage, I think Yishis is pretty amazing.

It’s hard to say how he stacks against a lot of other thieves since he focuses on WvW more than sPvP, but I would definitely say he’s one of the best in terms of making high quality videos that really help other players. I mean, sure you can learn a little bit from the fancy, highly edited videos of random gameplay set to over-the-top music. However, having someone explain their decisions in a fight, what they are trying to do, and why some moves ended up as mistakes, it’s so much better. It’s a shame that more people that make videos don’t do stuff like this.

Someone who ranks rather highly in both tPvP Solo Queues and Team Queues as its the only objective way to measure this sort of thing in GW2.

That said, probably right now Sizer on EU and Toker on NA.

I’d probably nominate triggerless, since he’s person who’s been named in this thread that I have experience fighting against. He’s scary.

How do you determine the best thief. Based on who can stealth the longest or based on who leaves stealth long enough to kill his enemy? Because I’ve fought many good thieves in both regards.

IMO the best thief is the one that has no fear to share his game playing and also help others.

You may respect someone who has nothing to hide.

Is good to have some of them in our forums . . . thanks to all of them.

As far as PvP is concerned I’d vote Sizer. I’ve yet to beat any one of his thieves.

I have to agree with Trav here, and we never agree on anything. Any good thief is running a point assault/team build rather than a dueling build. Not any that, but some builds will always counter another build 100% of the time. The tournament then becomes “who has the best dueling build?” and no longer is a display of who is the best thief.

to find the best thief u need 2 people running the same builds and not using BPS or SR. otherwise its a draw if they are 2 adept players.

Asking who is the best thief who commonly visits the forums is like asking who is the smartest moron – absolutely pointless. Most people go to forums to complain and whine about classes and stuff while the good players are actually playing the game. Hence we get crap design solutions because, if the devs are listening to anyone, they are listening to people on the forums – and we are all morons.

Idk about other game modes, but in NA sPvP it’s gotta be either Jumper or Caed. You know that annoying evade spamming s/d build everyone started playing this summer? You can thank jumper for that, he was the first thief to run s/d successfully in the NA competitive scene, his build got popular and became standard meta for awhile (unfortunately). He’s always coming up with the next meta builds for thief. Caeds just very good mechanically.

I think thieves use different builds in PvE and WvW and the game modes are just different as a whole. You’d be hard pressed to find any wvw player that could 1v1 caed or jumper, but that’s just my opinion. If you stuck them in a random Fractals groupe it might be a mess.

I have not seen them all but so far of the people mentioned only yishis continues to impress. The pvp people did not impress me at all.

Well you shuld make duels in wvwvw as they’re more fitting if you have general knowledge isntead of thief pvp knowledge. you gotta make it more fair for wvw players by doing it in wvwvw. though yishis would prolly win :P

I think tpvp requires the most skill (over wvw even though I’ll probably get flamed to a crisp for saying so) – just my opinion. And therefore the candidates are jumper, caed, toker, and sizer (though I’ll give a shoutout to Nietche because he’s quite good as well). I have watched all of them stream quite a bit and think that overall either toker or caed is the best – I would say caed no doubt but Toker has really good communication skills in team queue. I’m also a bit biased towards them because sizer and jumper use s/d build which I feel like is a lot more forgiving than the s/p d/p builds that caed and toker play. Just my opinion I’m sure plenty disagree and that’s cool.

If we talk about the best runner but also best dueling teef, I’d say Sizer.

If we talk about good teamplay and most useful, I’d say Toker.

If we talk about strategy, smart moves and the hottest teef, I’d say Caed.

If we talk about spamming evades and skills, I’d say Jumper.

Caed and Jumper were both always very high up there mechanically. If I had to give someone the edge, I’d say Jumper when he was at his prime, but it’s certainly debatable (don’t kill me Caed).

In terms of playing conquest and good teamplay, Caed is probably the best right now, but Toker is also very good and I don’t think he has hit his cap just yet. Sizer is also a good teamplayer from what I’ve seen of his stream.

Muffinz, Shad and Vanish are also good thieves which haven’t gotten enough mention.
