A question to those more informed than I am, I have no time alas to explore other classes. However Rangers – crazy ranged and close range damage, immunity to damage ability and stealth ability as well as pet these days. Now I know as a thief I have crazy ability to dance around in WvW due to my intentional build, make a mistake I’m dead tho in a second, but these days seems like standing away from an enemy rather than right beside them kicks the real damage.

rangers don’t have as much stealth as thieves, thieves also provide team stealth while rangers don’t
thieves have better mobility (at least vertical) than rangers hence why they still have spot in teams for roaming role

We can steal?

Jokes aside; we have way more access to stealth, can teleport and bring team stealth. We don’t have any good ranged damage, but melee we should be feared.

We still have way more access to stealth, and we have great on stealth abilities.

I believe the Mesmer is still closest in the running for the best stealth class in GW2, but thief still wins

The biggest threat from rangers is their distance, and catching you unawares amidst a large group, but generally speaking you can be fast enough to react and get out, with the right tools on your util loadout.

Nope d/p will never be unviable in wvw SA or not, dire trap thief and valkyrie SA d/d are usable as well.
