After the stronghold primarily as a thief last night (D/P meta), here are some of the top reasons I think the class is so well suited for the map:

- Blast finisher spam on a water field to heal the lord. Either steal from a ranger or have a teammate drop a water field and you can do massive healing on the lord without a single point of healing power in your stats.
– Headshot spam with full initiative can break the defiance bar on champions without any teammates’ help. This is pretty huge since this completely stops and stuns the hero for a long time.
– headshot is also one of the best channeling interrupts since it’s ranged and spam able. I kept two enemies interrupted by myself last night for a long time until a teammate was able to join and help win the battle.
– Steal is one of the few fast and reliable counters to stability channeling. A Mesmer may be able to boon strip, then interrupt, but the delay between strip and interrupt means that the enemy could have stab re-applied.
– Huge mobility rules on this map. There aren’t as many teleport locations as something like Khylo, but mobility still allows you to beat your opponent to objectives and let’s you do things like take out guards before your NPCs catch up.

I also heard stealth and caltrops were great for stopping doorbeakers, but I didn’t get around to testing that myself.

I have denied the opposition from destroying our gates by simply littering the path with Caltrops and Chocking Gas.

I’ve also seen a Ranger doing the same thing to our path by using traps and LB Barrage.

The minions in this game are stupidly designed. It would have been better if I take the supply myself and bomb the gates myself. The minions are useless.

Also, there’s no stopping someone from trolling and griefing. I can literally help my opponent win by carrying 2 supplies and die at their gate.

PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.

I felt the meta PS D/P wasnt cutting too well so I switched it to 2/0/6/0/6 and pack runes

served me well

also thanks for mentioning the water field from ranger to help heal the lord a bit, totally escaped me. i have to try this :p

S/D condi works very well for Stronghold. 25 bleed stacks melts most npc’s in a matter of seconds.
