Why do others think a Thief is OP?
Roll a warrior.
A well played Thief, or any class really, will beat anything else. Thieves Guild makes us one of, if not the best 1v2 or even 3 classes in the game.

I agree we are great in 1 on 1 and small scale skirmishes but WvWvvW is primarily zerging thus survivability and attrition wins the day. I am hoping WvWvW evolves a bit to incorparate small roaming bands where a rogue will do well but in keep seiges etc a sturdier archtype is much more suited.
Other have the opposite view on the thief in WvW. they are the last class you want to catch you in open field. Yes they dont bring much to a stand off / raid, if you like to be part of that you should make a ranged class or war, or guard.
But if you want to be a very effective thief try roaming, you can basically pick off anyone trying to get to the Hot spots. Signet of Shadows basically makes it so no one can catch you, if you see a group coming at you you can usually get away without even using stealth abilities.
I have alot of fun roaming solo or with a friend. You can also hang out close to your zerg and still pick off ppl trying to flank or just ppl who end up where they shouldnt. If you side is attacking a keep, hang out behind it, you will find people trying to get in.
oh and when someone does try to take me 1v1 they usually lose, if i start the fight with steal/backstab i win 99% the time, even against warriors.

My buddies and I make a group of 2-5 and roam enemy supply camps and dolyaks. Even if they take it right back it still resets upgrades and stalls the supply their forts have making it considerably easier to siege said forts.
It’s beautiful. Shadow Refuge everyone, apply devourer venom to everyone, and we can typically fight up to 1::3 odds. Sometimes we just take the northmost supply camp and dance/provoke enemies until they send a huge zerg to finally stop us =P but then we just walk away… X]
