Speaking from PvE experience, i just cant understand the reason Ricochet is 20 points in Trickery.

I’m guessing it’s meant to help pistol/dagger condi builds spread out there conditions (keeping ArenaNet’s philosophy that condition is aoe, direct dmg is single target), but it just seems to me that the bow does it so much better. It’s not 50% of the time, it hits 5 targets, and even has a nice combo built in.

I can see this trait being used in a pistol/pistol direct dmg build to give you a little ranged aoe, because as a thief you don’t really have good aoe (direct dmg) except dagger storm. But in this situation you are forced to go 20 points in Trickery, with gives you condition dmg, something you don’t need.

It just seems like this trait should bee in Deadly Arts, and maybe 10 points. Like this you can get the condition duration if your playing pistol/dagger, and you get the power if you play pistol/pistol.

Maybe I’m not seeing something here and the trait is fine the way it is.

Stat wise I see where you’re coming from. However pulling off a Revolver Ocelot is really tricky to pull off so I think it suits that tree well. I mean you’re aiming your bullets at just the right angle so it hits another person. That’s some impressive trick play with the pistol.

The condition damage you gain from 20 in Trickery isn’t completely wasted if you go P/P since the pistol #1 still bleeds. It’s not like you’re going to be able to spam #3 constantly.

With my p/d build I actually prefer ricochet in trickery since I’m using 10/0/30/0/30.

Non-gameplay reasons ricochet could be in DA or CS (im happy in the head right now so …)

It could be a deadly “art”, with art being the noun and deadly being the adjective. Shooting can be an art. Hitting multiple targets with 1 bullet is deadly.

It could be in critical striking. Hit someone so hard someone else feels the pain. You know how when someone else gets hit in the balls so hard you cringe from his pain.

Ricochet belongs in the Deadly Art tree and Improvisation should take its place in Trickery tree. It makes sense.

it’s tricky making a bullet traveling quickly bounce off of someone to hit someone else.

either that or we have wonderful powers…

P/P’s auto-attack (vital shot) deals bleeding so the condition damage is not wasted.

I disagree. I’m not replacing Combined Training with Ricochet, no thank you. Your suggestion is not well thought out.

IMO, it is fine where it is.

here`s the big mystery, why it`s in trickery. pp is mostly a None stealth build. therefore you go for heal roll, wich Pops every 15 sec and take XI, thats why u wanna go 30 in trickery and thats why it`s absolutly rightfull in trickery. in fact i want to have 40 in trickery cause the traits there are way to good.. and if u`r conditionbase u still want to have 30 in trickery, take perplexity and XII and u still want to have 40 there..

an before arguing why pistol builds are so bad, try to work it out. it`s the most fun set after they f* up s/d. the aoe is way better than the slow sb and it`s a unload full in the face of those who thinks thiefs just hide..

and the biggest Problem is not, that u can not pimp up ur stats via traitline the Problem is, that the only good survival skills except of dodge traits are for invis builds.

It works well for 0/0/30/10/30 P/D Condition builds, which is becoming my favorite for WvW.

Ricochet in Trickery is not that useless for P/P Direct damage since :
- you get an initiative regen with Kleptomaniac
- you get 3 extra initiatives with Preaparedness
- you get aoe buff Thrill of The Crime that provide fury for at least 10 secs, uping your Critical rate.

And, as everyone said, either you are playing P/P Shortbow or P/P D/D, the Condition damage is not wasted with the #1 of P/P, Dagger Storm and second weapon skills.

I posted about this in the feedback thread, and I feel like Richochet and Improvisation should switch places, as improv is a steal-centric master trait, and ricochet is a damage-centric trait. As a side benefit it lets me keep a trait I really like afterthe acrobatics reshuffling on the 10th XD
