With all of this AOE boon spamming
I believe it never needed less boon steal, should’ve always been 2 and should’ve always been able to precast.
It’d also be nice if our return was instant again (not stunbreak, just instant) and removed 2 condis again so we would have a chance against the condi spam builds without requiring them to attack us or without being reuired to have daredevil for consistent clears. Or the best yet, if using our steal to burst an enemy didn’t get us cc’ed by a passive trait that has 0 counterplay and actually has better cc than our steal.
But all that requires anet to put effort into this class which atm I truly do not believe they are thinking of doing seeing as how they have treated us since release.
When you finally land it, you trigger their passive that gives them another boon or does something to you allowing them time to freely apply more boons. Then, when you land steal to remove those passively applied defensive boons, you trigger their passive that gives them more boons, or disables you in return.
We have passively applied cc for landing cc, and more skills are coming in which can negate a killing blow. It’s just a matter of time before killing someone triggers a passive than in turn 1 shots the damage dealer instead, as a fair, balanced means of countering burst via ANet’s apparent definition of active play.

Larcenous strike should totally steal 2 boons.
Bountiful theft should steal all stacks of all boons for the thief and hand out one stack of each to the party.
If people are refreshing 5 boons a second, I don’t think its out of line to steal all the boons once every 20 seconds.

Not only should Larcenous Strike steal 2 stacks of boons, but thieves should have a whole lot more boon stealing. Shadow Strike should steal boons, scorpion wire should steal boons, Shadow Trap should steal boons, Infiltraitor’s arrow should steal boons, Tow Line should steal boons, Infiltraitor’s Signet should steal boons, Ice Drake Venom should steal boons, and finally there needs to be boon stealing in Acrobatics.
Currently, the ability to steal boons isn’t a class mechanic as much as it is an obscure factoid about a skill or two. Boon stealing on thieves should be in so many places that nearly any build can comfortably have some.
We generally need more boonsteal :|
But they won’t do it otherwise thieves might actually become more useful and be a threat to revenants in popularity.

On a class so squishy, each boon steal should be accompanied by gaining protection. That might mend a small bit of our survivability!
I wouldn’t worry about the protection. On the chance we aren’t stealing it, removing enemy quickness/fury/might is already cutting their offense, thus letting us live longer.
