WvW Gear
What trait layout would you be using? Helm, legs, and chest are the most efficient place to use PVT gear, that’s where I use it. Everything else is berserker along with divinity runes.

Im full PVT thief including gear and jewelry with thief runes, it still does plenty of dmg if you got some sigils for precision, aslont as u have 35% crit chance with constantly buffing fury your dmg will be almost as good as a zerk thief while being really tanky. Atleast with my playstyle i can make it work while many disagree and prefer full zerk… just my two cents

I have nothing bad to say about your build but I am quite sure it doesn’t do anywhere near the damage that a zerker thief does. Two totally different roles but both can be effective. Everyone has their own preference and for the most part they’re all workable… that’s what makes it fun.
For comparison, I have a bit over 100% crit damage and 60% crit chance with food buffs. Between furious retaliation and thrill of the crime my crit chance is at 80% for most the fight though.
Cheers!

Interesting, i actually got a zerk set and a zerk build and tried it, i didn’t enjoy it at all because I just hit about 1-2k more than with my pvt set and died a lot faster. Then again it has a lot to do with how you play the class, but im just too stubborn. I’ll be looking for a way to crit and 2 shot ppl like ive seen some thieves do :P
In the end ill probably hop back to pvt.. since when im in wvw im most lf the time on 1v2+ situations
Anet nerfed thieves damage too much to consistently instagib people anymore. That being said, fast reflexes and high damage can still end fights pretty quickly.

Putting your whole armor PvT will give you less stats than spreading PvT properly,
using this order when switching to PvT will be more rewarding.
1: Helmet, Legs, Exotic Rings, Exotic Back = 16 stats per 1% crit dmg
2: Chest (+2H weapons)
3: Exotic Earring
4: 1H weapons
5: Exotic Amulet
6: Shoulders/Boots/Gloves = 12 stats per 1% crit dmg

Usually aiming for 15k hp and 1400 toughness, but I mostly play with 20 points in
acro so would be a waste to buy new gems.
Damage is just fine:

Thanks a lot for your answers!
No idea about the traits tbhm I haven’t looked into them yet xD
I guess I’ll get PVT where it has the biggest effect and then I’ll use zerkers on the rest.
Here is a link to item nomenclature which shows effective bonuses per point.

You can still instagib pretty consistently if that’s what you really want. I’m starting to feel slightly bad about spamming this all over the place, but it can be done.
As for gear, I admit I personally suck at optimizing gear, but you might find this thread interesting: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Building-a-better-D-D-thief/page/1
