WvW Gearing, (Help Needed)
Uhm, maybe Marauder? Best tradeoff damage-survivability. Then maybe a rune with a defensive aspect. Some people here said defender, scrapper, exuberance or maybe even durabiliyt (kinda works on every class ^^ ).
Or just play better, master the in and out :P
Marauder, but still with scholar
Just some examples, look what you like.
here another one this one more focus around intrup for big numbers.
how much does that extra 400 toughness actually help?
Zerk trinkets, Valk Armor, Exuberance runes. 18k ish health and your hits should be just as strong. Exuberance offsets the precision loss of Valk and synergized with the extra Vitality it gives you. Effectively this is a Marauders only way cheaper than a full re-gear.
Keep in mind crit chance has a big drop off on DPS after 40 percent or so. The DPS difference between 45 and 50 is minimal.

Together with that much health you would be a lot more tanky, but I´m not a fan of being to tanky. Tried durability + marauder-gear on my rev yesterday and even that is to much for my taste.
@Taobella.6597 why strength runes? you gain almost no advantage from it.
If you want to play extra scummy, you can run my condi build: http://asphyxia.tv/wvw-roaming-thief-condition-build/
running this as solo or party roaming
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge

it a direct damage mod to pulmonary impact. you could go scholar too if you really wanted. i personally like strength because he suggested he wanted to run with friends means he probably have a fire field active to him.

It’s linear…

That chart is too simplistic. Damage is a three legged beast (power, crit chance, crit magnitude). If a player takes 100 precision points out and puts it in power or ferocity, did their DPS increase/decrease? The closer to a 100% crit chance we get the less effective putting points into precision over power/ferocity becomes.
In addition, not all damage is effected by crits even on a crit based build. Crit based builds are also greatly effected by Weakness.
Then we have the real issue… Combat DPS is very different than total potential DPS. For example, a glassy thief able to deliver 3 big shots before needing space may have a far less DPS than a thief that can stay in a fight and deliver 5 big shots. On a training dummy that doesn’t fight back, sure the glassy thief has higher DPS than a tankier variant.
Ultimately it is all a balancing act that is very difficult if not impossible to chart.
