[WvW] How much Toughness,Vit for S/D?

Hi guys,

I’m really new to thieves in general, so I’m not entirely sure what an ideal amount of toughness/vitality would be for a S/D thief in WvW (solo roam mostly).

Right now I’m running Soldier armor (PVT), but my Ferocity/Crit. Dmg is rather low, so I’m not sure if I should swap it for Valkyrie armor or use a mix of both.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

in WvW add 250-310 to vit and 30-90 to toughness coz infusions bl bloodlust and applied fortitude… Aside from that full berserker of course.4
Can you even solo a camp with your build? No Refuge? Double sigils(sharing cooldowns over swaps)? Whatever…
I have 18k HP and 2.1k toughness in WvW while running full berserker. Ascended, infusions, counted in guard leech +30/30 from bloodlust and 5%(average, 0-10% depending on points) bonus HP.
I’m in top 500 pvp(both queues) as a S/D thief. But lately more and more often I find myself leaning towards D/P to own groups of enemies, something I can’t really do on S/D(anything more than 3 80(upleveled are helping you more by rallying) is death!)

Between pack runes and your steal granting fury, I’d focus a lot less on precision. You will almost have perma fury, so 68% crit chance is not that important. I’d get some more valk items so you can keep the high power and ferocity but instead of crit % (you already have enough) get some vitality since it is the better defensive stat for thieves. Toughness is crap on thieves because we don’t have a reliable regen or source of small heals that will ever be worth mentioning to make toughness viable. At least vitality gets us out of the smallest health pool tier and also deals with a very well known thief weakness, conditions.

For what it’s worth, I dislike how stealth functions in this game, so I wanted to make a thief that relied on stealth as little as possible, hence the lack of shadow refuge. Since you appear to be so knowledgeable about thieves, would you mind telling me what sigil set up you would use on your weapons?

That’s true…but I’d prefer it if I didn’t drop in one hit if I make one mistake or if I run out of evades/dodges. But thank you for your input.

A good amount of toughness and Vitality can mitigate a decent amount of damage, I’d say at least 2.6 Armor and a good amount of Vitality from Acrobatics and Valkyrie gear should be enough, but against Condis that’s another thing all together.

I play 2/6/0/6/0 most of the time though or sometimes 3/6/0/5/0, and I also mix Cavalier/Knights/Valk Armor and weapons which gives a good amount of Crit/Precision/Toughness and mixed trinkets to balance out the cstats where I think it could make difference.

Personally I do not use up a Utility slot with Signet of Agility which would give me access to 6 dodges like some builds – especially the ones built around Might stacking, so the way I survive is through dodges and shadow steps.
