WvW Scout : D/D vs D/P?
Northern Shiverpeaks
D/P is all around better unless you want to go Condition. It’s only draw back is it’s a lot more heavy on initiative.
D/D has options if you want a condition build, and can do just as well on a direct damage build, but it has less defense and requires a target to stealth off of.

You’re suppose to be a scout not an assassin , go D/P

But what if I want to be a scout AND an assassin? What then, HM?!

The problem with D/P is the amount of initiative you burn in order to go steal and set up the BS. However, the defensive side is great if you’re close enough. With D/D, your CnD not only pulls you into stealth but does some really nice damage and causes vulnerability. It can be tricky out in the open though as w/o a close target, you have to use a secondary skill to gain stealth.
I personally have used both and I still can’t pick one to stick with.
I’m a big fan of D/D, it just feel right. I use D/P in sPvP though.
Can never let go of the pre cast CnD + Steal + BS combo <3

Can you explain this a bit for me? I’m not sure I follow…
D/P overall has more utility, mobility more reliable stealth. It also has a much better gap closer with #3, and #5 can make finishing most classes painless. #4 can be used to interrupt heals/stomps.
D/D has better damage because stealth is more spammable (more backstabs) and the burst is easier to setup. Its also much less initiative hungry, and much better vs classes with pets (rangers, mesmers, necros, and engies to some degree)
Overall, they’re both balanced and its up to personal preference. I personally use both with D/D and /P as my secondary weaponset.

It’s the classic D/D approach. Since CnD takes a few seconds to actually cast, you hit 5 when you see your target, and while the little action bar fills up you Steal to approach the target. When timed right, you’ll hit the CnD off of your target immediately after appearing next to them, thus giving them very little time to retaliate. Once you’re in stealth, you can proceed to backstab.
