Hello everyone , my name is Jack Twinkye and I play a thief on Jade Sea server. Today i’ll ask you how do you “see” the thief in World versus World , what kind of class is he , is that a roam character , or a bus character or a support ? Well , anyway , I would like you to help me , I spent something like 1 000 hours on my thief and i still being bad in WvW , i’m ok in PvP and in PvE , but i still don’t know how to play him on WvW , thiefs kitten me all the time in WvW , like rangers , warriors , guardians , mesmer , elementalist , necromancer and engineer. Well , i’m pretty kitten d often x). If someone would like to help me to train , being better , do some 1v1 , explain me my mistakes and all theses things.

The way I see it, a Thief is a havoc character. Bursting down people or killing people who are low on health. Taking camps. Killing Yaks and Sentries.

In my opinion, a Thief is not fit for unorganized zerg play at all.

While the above is more the ‘role’ of the thief in wvw. There’s nothing stopping a switched on thief from zerging – in fact they add a great deal if they can survive on the fringes of the melee with shortbow.
- Constant blast finishers
- AoE weakness
- AoE stealth for flanks (black powder > blast)
- Snipes with scorp wire (when it doesn’t bug)
- shadowstep > daggerstorm > shadowreturn for deeps

You can even take out key squishy damage dealers like staff eles with a bursty d/p stealth build.

Definitely can’t stay in the middle of the zerg train though and expect to meaningfully contribute.

In organized guild runs(wvw fights) thieves are used as parts of havoc squads used to sneak up on enemy zerg from behind and target those pesky berserker elementalists (and all the other squishy damage dealers)meteor showering the main force.
Personally I have a full berserker thief I am using to roam alone or with a couple of friends. Even alone it’s easily possible to go for any kind of objective: All you need is to build an alpha or omega golem(which you can stealth and teleport with some practice) and you’ll be able to take down a gate of an objective in less than 5 minutes, and hide inside of enemies arrive either cap it if they don’t(You can kill tower lord in ~40 seconds and keep lord in ~90 seconds with full berserker build and having a golem tank for you – NPCs will aggro on an unmanned golem).
And an alternate way to capture big objectives is sneaking inside with an enemy zerg and staying there. Also fun

I’ve played in all aspects of WvW on thief.

I’ve ran front line in a zerg busting guild
I’ve done GvG’s
I’ve Solo roamed
I’ve done small man
I’ve zerged

You can do it all on a thief as long you have the proper set up or team. When running front line the cluster bombs were sick damage along with a spammable blast finisher. You just had to have other classes provide you with protection/stability.
