WvW Zerg build?
Yeah, there are.
I really wouldn’t recommend it though, your contribution as a part of the zerg will be very restricted. The only thing you bring to the group at the table is cleave damage, and everybody around is already bringing a lot of that.
If you plan to frontline, unless you have a stability battery alongside you, your damage is going to get constantly interrupted, most of the time, making you unable to deliver it.
Unless you run condi-thief and spam poison-fields, that can really screw up the folks who are trying to seek shelter in the backline of a zerg, or the healing bursts of the frontline. As a thief you have access to basically the entire field of combat at a pretty low risk as long as you’re aware.
There are better classes for frontline combat in a zerg though, or midline, or backline for that matter… Thief really doesn’t have a solid place in a zerg eitherway.
That doesn’t mean they can’t support the zerg though, pick off stragglers, finish downs, ninja-rez, camp flipping, scouting, etc. They are all… Less direct ways of contributing though, probably not what you had in mind.
That said, get a couple of thieves organized, get a commander who knows where he wants them, and they can do some real damage.
Just don’t go into a zerg with 11k HP.
You will die.

One has to define Zerg first. When you suggest you do not like roaming one has to recognize that a group of 10 or so can not really be defined as a Zerg or as a roamer and thief can function quite well in such a group.
If you are talking about a true zerg in a zerg vs zerg fight (30 aside or some such) the thief role and the builds they can use is very restricted.

The usual acro/tr/dd staff build should be fine if you learn to peel around your groups before the other side has a chance to pull or stop you. If you’re roaming or floating a little off squad you can take d/p with it but if you’re short on time and need to zerg for action all the way take shortbow and know when to blast and when and where to land chocking gas. I like Blinding Powder but I usually end up taking Shadow Refuge, stuff happens. Read minds, you’ll see what that zerg and their driver is about to do most of the time if you slow down a bit and pace yourself. Steal a stealth or jump into someones smoke once in awhile to mask yourself as a target and shortbow 5 to another spot. If you’re not on voice comms with tag make a habit of reading their minds also.
I don’t know really, it’s passable but it’s a hard thief life. For awhile you’ll get pulled and die because you suck and then you’ll get pulled and die because you don’t suck but if that’s the best way to crank out your reward track then go for it. If you’re a casual player like me it’s still worth it to watch some thief vids, watch the roaming vids though even if you’re all about zerging.

yeah like sind posted, acro staff can work well but dosnt that kinda get brain numb very quickly
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge
I didn’t think there would be a demand for it but I will recheck and see what I can do that isn’t just doing damage.
I believe in inclusive gaming, not “the be all and the end all” builds people try to shove down your throat cause meta told them it was the only thing to play.

put that on ur short bow
and then u just dodge around in the zerg swap to d/d to dodge more around in the zerg
so all u do is slam poison on enemy zerg (shortbow 4 skill) and dodge around in it if possible works like a charm is boring as kitten but funny to see all em haters cus if ur winning the fight ur just on perma dodge spree with sigil of stamina..
tho i just play this build for the kitten of it i wouldnt play it as main thief :p
