For D/P I use the following:

For D/D I use this:

I generally like D/P more because of the great utility it offers (I’ve killed an insane amount of thieves just from interrupting their heal with d/p 4. D/D is still fun though.
On further thought, do keep in mind that thief is not forgiving. It takes a lot pof practice to pick it up well, so don’t give up!

I won’t, in term of practice I think that ele gave me the whole idea of “You can’t be good and win against real people as soon as you hit 80” and made me learn tolerance, patience and how to keep keyboards intact XD
thanks for the build I’ll try those out, might go for d/p though it seems fun.

Yup I started out as an ele main too xD. Thief is the same way. And yeah I find d/p really fun. Good luck!

Noob question here, but I’ve been looking at every d/d and d/p build, and I just can’t understand why the mug trait is more preferable for d/d and the fleet shadow trait for d/p. I really enjoy playing d/d but I just hate being slow… I can understand why using traveller runes, SoS etc aren’t useful in the long run dps-wise, but I feel like I’m just waving my daggers like a clown while other professions just run away laughing.
D/D; main burst consist of pre-casted CnD + Steal + Backstab, so traiting into mug gives you a little bit more damage and sustain. That’s the main reason people spec for it.
D/P; Usually spends longer durations in stealth due to smoke field + blast + leap finishers and consecutive leaps, so it benefits more from Fleet of Shadow.
I used to play a D/P + D/D build with the 0/6/6/2/0 traits before, however. You gain the sustain and on-demand stealth of D/P, and the burst of D/D which you can pretty much land as soon as your stealth wears off.
Nowadays I play what I’ve been sporting in PvP for like 7 months now, an acrobatic S/D trickery thief 2/0/0/6/6. If you’re adept, you may find it more fun than the stealth builds in WvW as well. It works very well, even if some people like to claim that a thief can not survive or have enough cleanse without stealth.
