Guild Wars 2

Hi everyone.
After exploring dd and pd thief i have moved on to try wvw sword dagger thief. I am familiar with the mechanics of sd but have no idea on the traits, gearing and combos\wvw playstyle. I am using a valkyrie set with exquisite ruby jewels with 2 knights earings with zerker jewels and the rest of the acesorries zerker.

Firstly, here’s a good way of setting up gear without ascended items,
gaining a good balance between damage and defense:

Simply because the stats per crit dmg ratio is different depending on pieces,
so going with crit dmg on wrong pieces when trying to build defensively
will result in a stat waste.

To shape gear further you need to decide what build and playstyle you want.

Some examples, and I’m aware that 10 points are lacking from some of them,
simply cuz they can be placed anywhere depending on what you want or find
yourself needing of.

0/30/30/0/0 – Stealth Build
0/30/0/30/0 – Acrobat Build
0/30/0/25/15 – Acrobat with good initiative management.
0/20/30/20/0 – Hybrid Acro/Stealth
10/30/0/0/30 – GC trickery steal build
30/x/x/x/x – Annoying swordsman

Example of playstyles:
Daze lock, evade spam, teleport spam, or all 3, cond duration (annoying swordsman).

There are also some guides here in the forum if you don’t mind searching for a bit.
But beware that some might be outdated.

I ran D/D and P/D for a while and currently using S/D with SB in off and pretty much only do Wv3. I run the 0/20/30/20/0 build with PVT armor, Mesmer runes and Berserker Jewelery. It’s doing pretty well for me. Probably my favorite build so far.

Ive experimented a bit and i think im fine about gear so what do i do in a fight?
Lets say i see an enemy running past me and i have an opening strike on him. What should i do? Also, are there any tips for going up against a d/d or d/p thief because im varely tankier than them but they burst me harder. Where does my damage come from?

There was a 1 ini increase to a skill that costs 1 ini and while the shadow return doesn’t break stun anylonger, it still ports you back. As long as you’re smart with where you cast IS from, there’s really not much of a difference.

The stun break on demand was the only real advantage s/d had in wvw. While still viable in spvp, wvw is better off with d/p blind field and stealth anytime. At least in my opinion.

I’ve just returned to the game recently after like 6 or so months off, maybe even more. Have been playing my ranger mostly, but been wanting to try out a new build on my thief since my guild is gearing up for a small thief group. She’s currently dagger/dagger burst, but I’ve always been kind of interested in a sword/dagger spec. Anyone got some effective builds(perhaps with a quick guide write-up) since I have seen much in the build threads, that’s meant for WvW? Much appreciated if you guys have a few to link. Thanks!
