Yesterday a low level thief asked for advices. It made me sad.
oh wow someone re-rolled, is this the first time you’ve heard of such an absurd act? do you still believe in Santa Claus?
I have similar feelings Rampard, iv had a full power/prec/toughness exotic set and a full exotic healing set (Cleric+ Knight), both of which i salvaged due to their being pointless. I have full zerker, rampager, valkyrie, and carrion exotics (including jewelry), i have poured hours and hours into testing out various specs, from stealth/blind support to venom support, three different condition specs, two crit specs, one focused on pure damage the other with abit of stealth support. And more even, but honestly most of those specs are broken, for now dungeon pve thieves are better off going for the standard power crit damage builds, thats where we have the most to offer.
I honestly answered and gave him my opinions about everything I can give after almost 400 hours of gameplay with my thief.

This is not the first time I saw somebody leaving the thief around level 20-25 and rolled another class.For me, I just don’t want to leave my class. Tried almost every build, moved from condition damage to power/prec/crit damage, and I just don’t want to leave behind the time and effort I had put into my thief.
People are avoiding thieves? Huh yeah right. Sure. I betcha.
I’ll just ignore the 25% Rvr population that is solid thieves. Would you be happy if 50% of the population was thieves?

That’s not a thief thing. I was talking to an experienced Guardian buddy from my guild. He said, “I have a Zerk set and a Cleric set. I almost never put on the Cleric set in dungeons, and when I do, it doesn’t actually add any survivability.”
Active defense is an order of magnitude better than passive defense. Active defense comes from using your skills and traits, not your gear. Good gear, meanwhile, can double or triple your damage.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, i just rolled a thief, threw some garnet pebbles in my armor, went to wvwvw at level 3, and am now happily kittentomping people by spamming heartseeker! :>

ppls do not avoid thief, if you take an look in WvW is full of them.
This will take some time, untill clans will organize more, and there will be no more room for random ninja in WvW , on thief will remain only ppls that can be efficient in groups/zergs

You’re being sarcastic, right..? If not I must be doing something wrong, cause I can’t do that on my level 80 thief. Maybe I need some garnet pebbles..

He probably meant with the help of the 20 others nearby, because HS spam isn’t good.

Good. The fact that everyone doesn’t enjoy the same profession is a sign of good design. Far too many “thieves” decided on the profession because of flavor or because someone else told them to and are now un-satisfied with how thieves actually work.
Better to choose a profession you enjoy from the get-go than invest in one you don’t really enjoy and then go to the forums to complain that it should be changed to suit you.
