I’m looking for your top PVP tips for d/p thief.

I’ve got about 700 PVP matches played, and still have a lot to learn.

Here are my tips:

1. Learn how to stealth to remove conditions.
2. Learn when to disengage and reset a fight or move to another node.

1. Play something else

Use D/P 3 to avoid hard hitting single attacks, evade for multihit attacks. Use 4 to interrupt heals or other important skills. Keep your initiative high for extra damage and access to stealth when needed (costs 8 init). You can’t usually assassinate anything but other thieves, and even if you can win a 1v1 against another class, it’s usually wasted time.

Use shadow trap on large maps like Temple of the Silent Storm. You set it near meditations and when they apear you can easily capture withing a few seconds across whole map. There is so much tricks you can do with this skill.

You don’t have to win every fight to be highly effective.

Nothing wrong with rotating if you find yourself being outdone in a fight. Trying to whittle a tanky player down, or continually resetting the fight against a condi heavy or bursty opposition, for a prolonged period of time is damaging to the overall team.

Recognise the waste, withdraw, rotate and either backcap other points or sway the fight elsewhere.

Your team is more likely to win, to be thankful of your presence, and you’ll probably come top.

Sometimes when I got possibility when I am alon against 2 enemies a just run around deal no cause just wasting their time so my teammates can do lot more without dealing with another players.

This vid’s almost a year old, but so much of the advice here is still true (just don’t try to 1 v 1 mesmers anymore, lol).

It’s pretty entertaining. If you need a refill on salty tears, I highly suggest this build. Standard combo is wire, daggers, flurry, takedown with pistols to compensate. Most people don’t understand why my cooldowns are so low (including other thieves. cdr traits too good)

Whilst Stealthed, shoot a shadowshot and then backstab whilst the projectile is in the air. Use this to gap close + insta backstab instead of blowing steal/inf signet.

I (with 4k+ games and thousands of hours on thief)have a very good suggestion for you: reroll.
