Zerker Still meta for thief?
Depends I think, due massive traits bonus in ferocity, maybe Assassin will the way to go, for condi maybe sinister. Poison and Bleeds… and Torment.. we can deal that massively I think

Unless it’s solo play, thief will pretty much never need much if any assassin’s since thief can already obtain high crit chance, coupled with party buffs can easily hit 100% crit. Berserker’s gear will still be the meta for basically every class, the only thing that might change would be gear mix and match meaning not much change on the pvp side of things.

Most changes to thieves were buffs to burst thief, because people hated it and thought it was OP so Anet made it stronger. While at the same time any big “changes” they made that might’ve been able to cater to a condi thief opting a different route, they skimped by on those changes and really did not do much for it.
Almost guaranteed at this rate that meta thief will remain almost exactly the same as it is now, except slightly buffed, while condi thieves are just left further behind.
Yeah, we can get torment on interrupt, but don’t get your hopes up about poison stacking. Dagger Training is a joke and Shortbow #4 is getting another duration nerf per poison pulse. Down to 2 seconds now which is really, really worthless, especially considering poison stacking.
Considering it was nerfed from 5 seconds down to eventually 3 after a series of different nerfs like range, damage and max targets with detonated cluster bombs … they at least had an idea behind why they did the poison duration nerfs. “We didn’t want excessively long poison durations blahblahblah” that was exploitable in Conquest maps like Foefire and even WvW too.
But now that poison duration won’t stack, and instead it stacks intensity, this nerf is completely stupid in more than one way. Not only will we struggle to maintain poison uptime using a shortbow, which was already enough of a struggle as it was. We’re actually going to lose damage on poison due to the new formula of poison damage being nerfed due to it being able to stack and needing more than one stack for the same damage we get now.
Shortbow is yet again losing even more of it’s viability as a weapon and turning even more into nothing other than a simple utility for mobility and blast finishers. And as for dagger training, same thing, 2 seconds duration baseline for poison with a 33% chance on hit. Oh it has no ICD but that doesn’t matter because the poison duration is pathetic anyway and reaches a whopping 3 seconds while combined with a grandmaster trait. Which still won’t even compensate for the damage loss due to formula changes.
Really though, are you going to choose something weak like that over mug anyway? No, of course not. And you’re likely not going to choose 33% increased poison duration and a whole 10% increased poison damage over dealing 20% more raw damage to a target below 50% health.
These changes are great … for burst thieves. The rest of the changes are pretty much run of the mill average Anet trash for any other kind of thief. But hey, that’s how they support “build diversity”, by making an already stale meta even more stale!
