droping stolen item just to use steal again
I forget what ice shard does, but throw gunk is a combo field isn’t_it? I think that’s the one I keep getting chaos armour from when I use a mainhand dagger… and the whirling axe reflects projectiles. Plus if you’re using the signet heal it’s rather a lot of hits.
TBH I think the items aren’t that bad. They may not all be amazing and certainly not in all situations, but they’ll either do something vaguely bad to a target or vaguely good for you, so throwing them at something to get your steal back isn’t wasted as such.
Throw gunk is ok but it cant turn the tables for you, (id rather get immobilise instead) the stab is kinda crap id rather get the staff from pve. Whirling axe is ok too if you wait to use it for reflect but the thing is i use it when i dont need/want to to free up steal/mug/shadowstep/steal boons/initiative/daze and it kinda bugs me that steal itself has more uses than the item. Since holding the item brings no benefit atm improvisation is not a trait id take even if it worked properly. The steal mechanic is a bit restrictive (not bad but compared to other classes) as it has only 2 modes steal is up and stolen item. SInce the first is traited to be used as an offensive utility by itself the second mode is sometimes the same use as a simple cd. A thief should be more rewarded for not just throwing the stolen item at something.
Edit :
Shard does a 10s chill but is melee and has a longish animation.

Well you can use the item in the 26-21 second window between two steals..
But ye, some items are better than others, like the ranger’s healing seed .. combine it with a dagger mainhand and you have 1-2k healing per heartseeker

So you guys think its not worth to add a passive effect while you not using the item?
For instance a 3 sec swiftness every 10-15s or vigor or a bonus 10% dmg chance like ranger spirit.

Having passive doesn’t really eliminate your issue of wanting to throw it away so you can use your steal again.
The main problem is why do you have to throw it away so that you can use steal again. I found myself in that situation from time to time.
I think what you really want is an F2 skill to give extra/new use to stealing items.
it would be nice, if you can store those things you have stolen, like when you steal, your f2 will be enabled placed the item there up to f3. f1 remains steal. at leas you can use it in good situations other than emptying it.
for sure i will alwatys get invi and buff from mesmers.

There is no need for passive steal buff. However, having at least 2 useful items to steal per class would be interesting. Right now, only classes with pets have 2 items to steal, but in most cases it is useless 1 minute single stack of bleed.
I think you kinda missed the big point here. Having the ability to store more items does NOT mean you won’t throw it away if you don’t really need it.
I think the real issue is why didn’t we use the items we just stole from after we just used steal? And I think the answer is some of those items are crap, for example: Ice Shard Stab. Do they think I am going to walk to a Ele and use this so that he can own me even faster?
Even the good stolen items can be argued to be a placeholder untill steal recharges.
As an example as what stolen items could do :
Whirling axes 40% chance to deal 10% more dmg with the next attack cd 10s
Glob of extoplasm grants a random boon every 15s
Throw gunk 50% to induce poison for 5 s when hit cd 10s
Healing seed removes a condition from you every 10s
Ice shard slab gain swiftness for 3 sec on dodge (stack with trait) cd 10s
Skull fear 30% chance to cause fear for 1sec when hit cd 15s
Blinding tuff grants vigor for 5 s on crit cd 10s
Mace head crack (cant think something for that)

As much as I like it this will not promote the use of stolen items and in the worst case it will be an issue for PvE players to find the right skill to steal from.
IMO, Stealing you should always give you 2 items/skills (F2 and F3 while F1 for Steal only) F2 will only and always give you an offensive skill and F3 will always give you a defensive skill(Healing or Boons). Once you used any of the 2 items both items will remove from your bar which mean you got two but can only use one. Stealing will refill or replace the 2 items. Items you got in PvE will random but specific in PvP.
Aye, I’ve been a supporter of a “pockets” system for a while now. Getting the item off of F1, however the rest of the implementation works out, would fix this entirely by allowing you to Steal without using the item. One Steal granting two possible abilities does sound appealing, allowing for a bit more strategy. I don’t foresee it happening, since that would require making a lot of new skills, but I like it.
Actually you don’t really have to make so many skills.
Consume Plasma, Eat Egg, Blinding Tuft; Drink and Tree should be enough for Defensive Slot. It is not like every class really need a different type of Defensive skills.
As for Offensive slot, just fill them with the one you think they deserve for specific class from this link.
