empty off hand weapon
that 3rd skill could stay and could add 4th and 5th one on Warhorn weapon.
And if it comes to abilities to skills added by warhorn – something with stun and blind/weakness/vulnerability or vigor regeneration.
Not really a fan of warhorn being in weapon set for thief class, but somehow it’s better than focus I guess.
The 3rd empty hand weapon skill is a weaker version of our dual skills. This isn’t meant to be used seriously except for level 1-2 thieves that didn’t get enough weapons yet.
There’s no point playing and balancing the game for empty hand sets, you are missing stats and one sigil !
Stofs got the point clear there, there’d need to be a whole weapon designed for one handed attacks with 2 sigil slots. The basic design for thieves is 2 weapons period.
Theoretically why not a one handed weapon, then the other hand can blind, pull, push, punch and whatever. But 2 weapons is just the defacto.
You know, all classes can equip only one weapon and they will have 3 or 2 skills. THieves happened to have a dual skill mechanic, that’s all.
…this makes it feel to me that the class isnt finished. Like they are suppost to have options for leaving their second hand free but for whatever reason it never made it into the game and the dev’s just kind of forgot about it.
Its actually a little depressing that what looks to me to be a fairly large oversite managed to go 2 years without being corrected. I understand that it takes time to iron out all the bugs that a game this size will inherently have. But this isnt a bug fix, this is missing content.
Can’t tell if trolling or serious.
On the offhand chance you’re serious – the reason for this is because thieves are the only class with unique “Dual weild” skills. IE, Weapon X MH doesn’t have a set #3 skill – it’s #3 skill relies on what weapon is being held in the offhand. When you don’t have a weapon in the offhand, you don’t get a 4 and 5 skill, and the #3 skill is just based on whatever weapon is in your MH.
This was not an oversight. The class is not incomplete (In this regard at least). Working as intended.
pre-ordered HOT at this point,
save yourself the money and don’t bother.
An ‘empty hand’ as an offhand weapon would be my ideal thief improvement. It would look far more elegant and deft than most other weapon suggestions. You would need some way to create stats and sigil for that ‘empty hand’ though.
I’ve always thought about this. Making one handed weapons builds viable not only for thieves, but for all classes.
However, there are a few things that should be in place for this:
- Each weapon should have 5 skills, even if one handed.
- If you dual-wield it then you lose skill 4 and 5 of the “single handed version”.
- They should come up with some kind of “phantom sigil” systems that only takes effect if you are single wielding that weapon, because right now single handed weapons only take one sigil, which wouldn’t be fair agaings two-handed weapons.
- Maybe for some classes some traits should be revised.

Something like, a weapon you can equip and has stats and you put a sigil on it ?
The dagger empty hand duel skill is aweful, but the other weapons aren’t. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stab_
as for missing stats, thats as simple as mirroring the stats from the main hand. Sigil might be a problem but every class has dealt with having only one sigil on twohanded weapons. untill a better solution could be found it seems like a small price.
I think its very cool how the number 3 skill on you weapon changes based on what weapon you have In your off hand.
As everyone knows thieves also have a unique skill for when they dont have an offhand weapon equipped. The problem is that they dont have a 4 and 5 skill if they choose to do this.

Yeah ArenaNet should have added weapon-less skills.
I like to see the following skill in the off hand skills
- #4 – Temple Strike – Daze target (left hook animation)
- #5 – Cheapshot – Stuns target (kicking the balls animation)
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
How about
- - Slight of hand – go stealth for 2 seconds 6 initiative
- - Sideswipe – same thing a offhand pistol’s Headshot except in melee range.
So your empty hand is all about control and using your main hand better

How about:
- #4 – High Guard – Block the next in coming attack. If you blocked an attack, you are feared and bleeding for 10s.
- #5 – Roundhouse Kick – Deals damage and knocks down target for 1s. If this skill crits, the target is knocked down for 10s.

I feel that thief should have a full 5 weapon skills for empty off hand. Something utilizing your hands in union with your weapon. For example, with only main hand dagger, you could have some sort of choke hold move that links into a high damage, single target attack with a small stun.
Now, for my own personal dream, if you have no off hand for dagger, the entire dagger set’s skills. All five skills are turned into throwing dagger skills. I personally think that would be very cool, but it is highly unlikely.
Instead of warhorn, it should be torch. I feel like the torch should be implemented. Maybe some sort of access to burning and stealth.
