hi im searching for a reason why the game developers decided to make this class (THIEF) so OP against a class that wears “Heavy Armor” (yes i play thief as well as heavy armor classes) i been running round on my thief and im seeing huge numbers for instance i managed to slap some poor warrior for 10k+ with a backstab in EB today and was really shocked to see how much i can get out of this, not only that but with the help of the stealths i can just pop in and out of combat.

all i would like to know is how could a dagger wielder (tiny weapons) do the dmg its doing to a Heavy Armor wearer??? surely the dmg should be halved at least? i could understand doing the numbers im seeing to medium and light but heavy? really???

i know ill get a lot of bad responses to this too ….

Whats so surprising? The armor difference between a medium set and a heavy set is about 150 points. Its mostly your build and the power/prec/crit/toug/vit stat combination on your gear which decides if youre a bunker or a glass cannon, not your armor class.

And would you really like warriors to have even more defense than they already do on top of the massive damage they can dish out? That would be absurd.

so what your saying if its only 150 points right? so why have heavy/light/medium ?? if there is no real difference?
im not looking for an arguement or anything but i been playing mmos a long time now and most (not all) most with heavy armor are killed much easier with MAGIC as the heavy armor wearers were mainly melee, so if for instance warrior vs thief came up a warrior would demolish a thief because of the lack of armor, but saying that warrior vs ele/necro/mesmer unless the warrior could some how get up close and personal would loose, also thief vs spell casters thief would win…

do you see what im saying?

It was probably just a glass cannon Warrior—little to no extra toughness at all. With those builds that have little to no toughness, you’ll be able to crit for 10k. It’s their fault, not yours, haha.

Because people expect a MMO has different armor classes, even if they don’t actually make much difference. If it is missing the game sucks, it’s one part the weird logic of MMO players.

THIS game is all about aesthetics, that’s why we have different armor types……

1) History lesson, in medival times knights would carry small knives to slip between the plates of thier opponent’s armour.
2) Actually if you build with enough survivability Thieves will generally leave soldiers alobe because they’re too much trouble to fight.

if you hit an warrior in berseker stance, the number is irelevant
Do 6k on an bunker guardian with protection up and singet that reduce incoming damage and i salute you. In fact do 5k backstab on it , if you can.
Problem is that most of ppls like to see numbers, they play glass cannon guardian , they play glass cannon warrior. You will not kill solo an bunker guardian as thief no matter how much you try. And you will not kill an tank warrior in 1 vs 1 , wich use heal on hit even if he make 100 mistakes, he will still dominate. On the other side , an thief have to do 1 single mistake and he die.

If you think the highest damage dealers shouldn’t be able to do much damage on heavy armor classes, you’re literally asking for them to be invincible.

Look me up sometime. I’ll teach you how to play warrior or guardian. Problem solved.

Serious answer to your question though… the armor isn’t the big part. Its about the skills you select. think about it this way, why are bunker eles, who have light armor, the strongest point holders in the game?
