Hi there i was thinking of making an alt a thief for that.

but here’s my problem , i love the way human cultural armor looks but at the same time i love the look of sylvari’s in general! what race should i make him :/ ?

there aint a way to transmute cultural armor right?

Sylvari, human are my two favorites. I’ve never been able to get myself to play an asura for more than 10 minutes but they are popular. I’ve always seen the bigger classes as being a liability as a thief (too large and obvious), but there are probably people that will see it different.

I have an 80 sylvari thief and am currently leveling an asura one. The reason is that sylvari dialogue got annoying and the animations (for sword especially) seem….static (non fluid, wood-like you may say). Asura feel more energetic to me. If you like sylvari, I would go that way because they are pretty cool looking with the glow. I guess I have sort of the opposite feeling on it that Harbinger does. If you go syvari, make sure you’re prepared for a semi-half English accent (if you haven’t already played one). You might make one of reach as tests and take them to sPvP to see if everything looks good to you (animations, clipping, random dialogue when you gain a buff or condition). Everyone has different preferences.

Haha…all good points. I play WvW so those were the only choices size wise I was willing to go with. Also, your favorite music playlist running makes up for any vocal deficiencies that race might have. All in how you game I suppose. Good luck with the choice!

Well, I didn’t review racial skills but I don’t see either giving a notable advantage over the other for a thief. At least between those two races. Although, if you only/mostly like human for a 120g armor set, I’d say sylvari. Why? It is more likely that they will come out with new armors you like better than human t3; but I doubt you will ever be able to change base racial looks.

Just pick which ever race you want. I love my Norn thief, it just felt right.

I personally like my choice of character race and you should pick one you do too. There really isn’t a right or wrong answer we can give you.

And, no, there is currently no way to transmute the cultural armors to be usable by other races other than their own.

Agreed..

Although I do sometimes wish they would’ve tweaked some of the animations and sounds of the norns. I really dislike the long ‘yeeerrrgh’ grunt that follows some attacks like Flanking Strike, for example.

I like my norn thief. She looks pretty cool as well. Cultural armor is ok, except for the mask, but it can be hidden. I don’t think size should be a factor in your decision. After all you use blinding powder etc to gain stealth. The norn female voice acting is in my opinion pretty good too. No, you won’t get a cute girl and you will get a girl who sounds like she could beat up a couple of dozens of people, but it really fits the norn in my opinion.

And yes the Sylvari look really cool, but I don’t like their voices. If they had sounded slightly more hippie-like or plantlike it would be good, but they sound like urban creatures.
