need help with heartseeker
Do you have an enemy selected? If I’m running away I always click to unselect any enemies I had selected, otherwise your movement-based skills will go to them, and as you said, your death.

I don’t know if this is a coincident or not, but I’ve noticed two times last night when I was in WvW, and ran down the Ogre camp, I use HS to move around, and downhill from there it turned me around every time. Weird..
This happens everytime I play my thief and I stream it. I also love when I hit some ability and it never goes off. Happens when I place SR or blink with short bow 5. Also ever notice you press hs one time and it fires 2 off? Game is pretty broken but still fun in a ganking sort of way, FUBAR
Yes it does happen often even when if you don’t auto-target or have any mob targetted. It usually happens if you start spamming the skills too fast, or different skills too fast.
For example it rubberbands if I do many SB#5 in a row, or when I start Heartseeking out of play and it turns exactly the opposite direction even without a target selected.
It sucks.
No problem with the skill it self, but very often wen i use this to travel, escape or chase. My character suddenly turns around making me heartseeker to my death. This has also blown my stealth cover plently of times. I’ve alrdy checked, and it isn’t anything like auto-targeting. the only way ive found to prevent this is waiting to do the next heartseeker when i can walk after performing the last one. Any idea how to solve this tough?
This is affected by terrain. if terrain you are heartseeking on is not perfectly flat, you will most likely start heartseeking backwards.

There’s a game option that says something about automatically chosing a target enemy when using a skill when you have none selected. So what happens is you don’t have a target but someone’s chasing you, you press 2, the game picks the guy that’s following you as a target and makes you hs to them. Happens with steal as well.
Even without a target, it does this to me time to time. I can’t recreate the event let alone know what is setting it off, because it is random. Lag, no lag, enemy nearby, ooc, doesn’t matter. Randomly it just redirects me backwards against my choosing.
Add this to the list of thief bugs and hope we get a response before 2015.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”

^What Delta said xD
Go under your game options and disable auto targeting. If you have auto targeting on, you’re going to have a bad time.

Turn off autotargeting and promote skill target in options. Also make sure you don’t leap on any mobs you can still hit them when not targeted, So you need a little space.

It is the terrain like this person said. I believe if you’re going south and the it’s a hill with a downward slope, the Heartseeker tries to go north. You just have to use them slower and not queue up more Heartseekers as the character only tries to go backwards at the end of the skill.
This usually happens to me, I started playing ni windowed mode it took away the issue.
It’s most likely the terrain, I guess it’s similar to when I sometimes use shadowstep over a tiny bump, get teleported to the target location and immediately back.
