It’s my favorite elite because it pairs so well with steal, but when I don’t use it with steal, it hardly ever works for what seems like most skills in the pistol skill set. For example it doesn’t work with shadow shot, which is the usual opener for D/P. I don’t think it works for black powder either(which supposedly shoots the enemy). It doesn’t work for unload afaik. It also goes away if you don’t connect on a knife attack. Is there any word on a fix or acknowledgement that its broken?

All venom skill counts, and AS counts are used up even if you swing in the air.

Having said that, Basilisk is ESPECIALLY bugged when it comes to ranged weapons. This applies to Pistol, Shortbow, and Harpoon gun. The attacks may connect, but the venom effect will not trigger.

ANet hasn’t done either of those (to my knowledge), though it’s one of those crucial issues (amongst others) that definitely needs to be fixed.

If you don’t have mug it won’t work on steal ever. It needs to do damage to stun.

Also it applies any venom to the swing, not the hit. If you swing and hit nothing, or your first shot of unload is 1 unit out of range, that will be the swing/shot basilisk venom is applied to and it will be wasted.

Those are the only rules I’m aware of with venom.

for pistol weapons basilisk is weird. Sometimes a vital shot will make it work sometimes not. I have found that body shot if you connect the hit will always proc basilisk

basilisk venom has never worked with my pistols. ever.

From what I can tell, Venoms (specifically BV) is bugged and works just like combo finishers do. So, when using certain skills that have a % chance to proc a combo finisher, it MAY or may NOT work. So it works when it feels like it.

I’ve never had issues with any of the venoms as a long time P/D Venom Thief. Therefore I find it bizarre that the forum is blotted with this topic once in a while. If you posted a video of it happening I would be more inclined to believe it’s a bug rather than a conceptual mistake.

P.S. Venoms do not proc, they hit or they don’t.
