Guild Wars 2

So just looking at all the other elite spec’s and the revenant class, and watching twitch streams right now….so many classes seem like they have these huge changes that make their character stronger, with amazing animations.

I don’t see anyone streaming on thief. I saw a few try, but they just rage quit and went to other classes. The thief daredevil spec and staff just looks so uninspiring. It looks like ArenaNet didn’t really try.

I already feel like my main class thief (the only real reason I even still play the game) is a weak class now after several nerfs and the power creep following trait changes.

Can anyone convince me that there is anything to be excited about for the thief in this upcoming expansion? I’m so uninspired that I haven’t even bother buying the expansion, and I might just leave for good and go back to playing console games.

Too much aoe, too many passives, too many brainless counters too thief, too many survival tools on other classes. Thief got…… few additional traits to sd build (still doesn’t bring it back to old state) +1 extra dodge. That is.

No real dmg besides same old BS or AA, no real counters to other classes, NO dmg mitigation, laughable condi cleanse, laughable acess to stab. Also new build is so sooo extremely selfish, it has ZERO team support.

There is just so much wrong with thief and new spec especially, it is probably easier to list what is NOT wrong with the class.

I think thief is garbage with HOT in regular PVP. Might still be played in tournaments (obviously for the mobility, even though second chronomancer might be so much better?)

I’m officially giving up as of yesterday. I don’t feel motivated to play anymore, because my class is dead.
I see my friends talking about Guild Wars and being excited for playing, but I don not feel it anymore. Thief just is not fun the way it once was.

I feel the same way. Atm I have no friends playing thief because they either changed their class or stopped playing altogether. The game would probably be a lot more fun if I changed too, but just out of principle I’m not going to. Probably gonna move into wildstar, where thieves don’t suck and pve is challenging and visit gw2 every now and then to see how much lower did thief get since my last visit.

As much as I’ve tried to convince myself otherwise, I have to agree. I’ve played Thief for a while now and it’s by far my favourite class gameplay wise; but it’s just so lacking in so many areas that Daredevil does nothing, if not very little, to change.

Daredevil hasn’t fixed the problem of role-locking we currently have in PvP, which I REALLY hoped wouldn’t be the case when I heard our new spec was pushing for stealthless, bruiser-style combat. I half-expected (how silly I was) that we’d be able to do more than just be decap bots and handholders and instead be able to fight on points, duel efficiently and be a real threat in a fight. But when we actually got chance to play Daredevil and see how it fares against the other proffessions, both base and elite specs, it STILL doesn’t match up. I’ve now completely avoided playing Thief in PvP whatsoever because I know that if I play my Necro or War, I enjoy it so much more and feel much more engaged in the match and rewarded.

WvW is pretty much the same deal – unless I get off cheesy stealth bursts against noobs, I spend most of my time running back and forth being beaten in 1v1s (or, obviously, ganked) because other professions just have more, and easier to use, tools than we do to both mitigate and deal damage. Mesmers outshine us as roamers (the one area we USED to be great at) and Guardians/Warriors/Necros/Eles etc outshine us in groups. Daredevil hasn’t fixed any of these issues imo, and whilst I appreciate the effort Karl has gone through to resolve SOME of the issues being raged about in previous BWEs, it’s not gone nearly far enough to solve Thief’s BASE problems.

I really tried liking the thief/DD in HoT. But after trying out the others, it just completely overshadows the thief class entirely. DD, both the concept and skills offered, is just very underwhelming in comparison to chromomancer, reaper, etc.

I don’t see Anet re-hauling the entire DD spec. This is the last beta weekend and the game is coming out in about 2 weeks. Any major changes will just be limited to internal testing.

Don’t buy HOT until the first balance patch. Best advice I can give you. If you wana pvp or play the base game in the mean time, go ahead and attach an energy sigil to your weapon, and vola, you`re playing the DD.

Anything teef can do, every other class can do better. I’m still holding on to this fool’s hope that we will get a revamp.. That everyone’s testing and feedback will somehow do something for our class this time around.

Those who are getting excited for revenant and other classes, wait for the first balance patch. They will nerf them to the ground.
