s/d wvw food!
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge
I’m on my phone atm, I would post links of the food if I weren’t but I can tell you their effects:
Using the meta-battle S/D build:
Food: 100% chance to gain might on dodge + 40% endurance regen.
Literally.. Might and dodges for dayzzzzzzz~
Utility Food: sharpening stone that gives 6% of toughness into power and 4% of vitality into power.
Because the S/D meta build incorporates might on dodge, with swiftness on dodge along with strength runes I found this type of food to be extremely useful. Also, the trait that grants 100% endurance regen for a while whenever you use a heal skill (roll backwards ~15 sec CD?) is immensely helpful with the food buff to endurance regen.
Hope this helps.
i am using omnomberry pie on all of my thief builds, be it 60206 d/p or 20066 s/d
gives you ~330 health or so on a crit with 66% (60%?) chance on a 1s cd
as well as some precision
btw does someone know whether the food mentioned above does add up with vigor? (i mean the 40% endurance regen)

I may have to try that out sometime.
UPDATE: I’m back on my PC and I can confirm that the food I use (Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Orrian_Truffle_and_Meat_Stew) does indeed stack with the vigor uptime trait when you use a heal skill and the endurance regen is NICE! Well, At least I noticed a considerable increase in the regen testing regular rodge rolls and then healing + dodge rolls.
interesting, thanks guys. i wont be changing over to strengh runes though lol.

hm nice if that does actually stack up with vigor i will try out the steak – just i think the might it gives on dodge doesnt last long right? like 6s?
btw i also use pack runes instead of strength simply because of the precision and the perma fury it offers me
As far as I know it doesn’t stack.. Vigor gives max regen
As Isisisis said, it doesn’t stack.
From wiki:
“Each dodge requires 50% endurance, meaning that characters can dodge twice in a row when at 100% endurance. Endurance regenerates over time, at a base rate of 5% per second and a max rate of 10% per second – effects which grant additional endurance regeneration do not stack beyond double the normal rate – for instance, any additional endurance regeneration while under effects of boon vigor (which already grants maximum increase in regeneration rate) has no effect. While endurance is regenerating, a sound cue will be played and the endurance bar will blink when it’s half full, indicating that it’s possible to dodge again.”
So it means with 30% boon rate (if you use full acro trait line) the Bowl Of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew will give you 1 stack might for 6.5s/dodge and nothing else (because you have permanent vigor with Withdraw and Bountiful Theft).
Personally i use Omnomberry Pie (325 lifesteal (you get 325 hp and the enemy loses 325 hp) on crit + 70 precision), i think it fits S/D acro thief perfectly.
War/Ranger/Thief Roaming Vids
While onomberry pie a good choice I think cactus fruit salad a better fit. One gets the same life steal but instead of precision (which adds 3 percent to crit rate) one gets +40 percent on durations of conditions.
With the typical 2/0/0/6/6 build this will get you a 50 percent overall boost to conditions. This makes the poison on steal last 15 seconds giving it better uptime and adds to cripple and weakness durations from the AA attack chain. I find this of more benefit to the build then that precision.
Another food to consider is that which adds boon durations. With +20 percent duration off the food and 10 more off the sharpening stone with that benefit one can get base boon duration up to 60 percent in that 2/0/0/6/6 build. I myself boosted this further so as to get 80 percent. This if used with runes of the pack as example ensures 100 percent uptime on swiftness and fury and on vigor. Signet of shadows or traveller/speed runes to gain extra map movement speed then becomes redundant as the swiftness on dodge of 4 seconds gives ample speed to cross the maps let alone the other sources.

If you are gonna run a power build and don’t care for the costs involved, there isn’t much reason not to run
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Seaweed_Salad
AFAIK it’s the highest power DPS boost you can get in food (unless you rely on skills that root you down like pistol whip or 100b) .
I use plate of orrian steak fritters over plate of truffle steak cos I am cheap.
Omnom pie if running with party.
Mango pie if I am really broke.
I grinded some of the Dry Top recipes on my main account, the lifesteal/+40 condi duration food is very nice with S/D but pricey and I think it’s more worth on some other classes/builds (like rabid engi).
If you run might stacking S/D build, try nopalitos saute/fried golden dumpling with bountiful sharpening stones for +30% boon duration over might on dodge food (the base might from that is just 5s). You get 30% from consumables, 30% from traits, that’s for all boons, making vigor etc last a lot longer. With strength runes, might duration is at 105% (capped at 100%) which is overkill, with hoelbrak 90%/-20% condi dur. With bountiful theft, you have vigor for days and also vigor is 100% endurance regen, might on dodge food only 40%.

Have any of you tried running Sword+Dagger with Melandru Runes and Lemongrass Poultry for reduced stun and condition damage duration?
I’m aware of the condition removals on Sword, Withdraw, Signet, and Shadowstep … but thought that against tanky condition builds it could be beneficial …. also reduce those windows of time where someone manages to get you in a stun (or immob when waiting on cooldowns).
Also curious about Runes of the Vampire. The additional Lifesteal is welcome for sustain against tankier opponents and the Mist form when low buys time for more Endurance + Initiative for more dodges/evades.
Just curious … I find tanky targets the most difficult on my Thief so those are what I often think about. I don’t often feel like I need anything else to help me against another zerk build … they die just fine.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.

I don’t see any logic in being “tankier” as a thief, unless you want to troll people. infact you don;t really need melandru runes to be tanky at all, just run 6 SA shadow arts and 6 in acro and you have all the sustain you can ever dream off. most of the time that a thief get stunned the dmg has been done anyway, so i dont think melandru runes will help in that factor neither. as for the condi, there are better runes for that. even lysia would be better i think for anti condi.
Not tried vamp runes, isnt that the rune that turns you into mist/vapor form at 20% health? interesting.

I wasn’t talking about “being tanky” … I was more focusing on:
- Reducing how long you are CC’d when it inevitably happens
- Removing how much conditions in general bother you
- Having more sustain for those fights where you are against a tanky build … for example: against tanky builds that have retaliation and just try to wear you down.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.

I dunno, never thought of stuff like that as a thief. always gone on the offesive side, runes, food and oils ect.
speaking of food. what is https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Omnomberry_Ghost like on sword thief? i feel sword swings too slow for such a food to take effect, i see this more suited for dagger or pistol.
