That people are trying desperately to figure out a useful build for thief in tpvp…only it doesn’t exist.

So sad but so true. This is how I feel for a long time now. We offer nothing more or better that other professions, only less.
We don’t excel because of stealth, but we can beat bunker builds in sPVP. The problem is that we need to use stealth and that gives the defending point to the enemy because stealth is not allowed (pure BS, IMHO, it should be stealth OUT OF COMBAT doesn’t make the point capture). So, we’re useless in sPVP as it stands, other than being annoying.
Inactive: Guardian, Elementalist, Ranger, Thief (ex-main)
Leveling: Engineer, Necromancer
There are not many viable and usefull spec for the thief in tPvP, but this can be said for every class.
You will always see the same builds going around, with some few little differences.
Of course the few viable thief spec are far from being weak, a good thief with the right spec is a pain in tPvP.
Hotjoin is not pvp but something like a PugZergFest
EDIT: I would like to see more viable builds for every class in tPvP
but they’re a lot stronger
than they will be next year!
Oddly I became stronger.
Much of “did we become weaker / stronger” comes due to the people you are fighting.
There a times / games i feel like a god, and then, the next game you don’t get anything off.
Really depends on the nmy’s speccs /& professions.
But more and more people go to defensive specs, which means that you as a ( if you do so ) default GC D/D specced thief feel like you “are weaker”.
Its really a shame that one cannot change amulets / skills in tPVP games, would add so much more to the game !!!

the only thieves you see are roaming in wvw now. spvp/tpvp/zerg/guild play is now no longer in need of what thieves bring. they arent the kings of burst anymore and yet still have the crappy defense. they still are amazing duelers but take too long to do it usually… in a 5 v 5 it puts alot of pressure on teamates when u go invis to heal/drop condis/set up for attacks and also puts pressure on you if more than 1 person targets u. dont wrry it will change soon i think. anet wants to increase our base dmg so we dont have to always have 30 in crit or 30 in deadly to do dmg.

ur right it does pose a problem and also puts sooo much pressure on your teamates when you are healing up while invis or setting up. however there are too many ways to stack stealth and just stand in the cap areas as a troll…..it would be a better bunker build than having 2 guardians there….. so it would be exteremely op in the sense of cap circles/squares in spvp or even wvw. thief needs a lil boost in tpvp/spvp….but i have literally no idea what to suggest here.
25/30/0/0/15 trait distribution still puts out very good burst in my opinion. Yes the mug nerf hurt quite a bit but this is still very powerful – I think warriors have the potential to put out more burst but obviously they have their own issues. The S/D changes allow thieves to build to counter HGH engineers and bunkers (without as much stealth usage) which is an improvement because a new build may have become viable enough to tweak the meta a bit. Just my 2 cents fwiw.

venom share is really amazing. but outside of that its a cluster bomb fest ;P . i can fit daggerstorm in if i put it in my hp build. idk has options but not really as large a niche as most other classes. ranger gets kinda similar but atleast they have a few options and aoe dmg.

they bring a sense of surprise…..and blinds. …. i mean yeah you can play bunker condi but it leaves basically 1 attack (sneak attack). i have plenty an idea :P …. wont bother explaining how as most everything in this game is uprovable…but im stockpiling footage right now that im going to make a video.
So much misinformation. Thieves are still run and effective in higher end tourney. They require a whole lot of finesse though, once you get past the mindless hot join phase. Anyone can burst. Positioning is king if you want to be good.
NA tPvP – Elementalist – Thief
A) burst is dead.
B) invis is horrible bc u lose caps when stealthed.
C) very very squishie and 3rd highest output of damage.
thieves are not bad. i personally dont run them in spvp much unless i go condi bunker build. i like necro/guard. i think the next patch that changes skills you will see an emergence of “needing” thieves i got a feeling
