the revealed change *a prediction*
Maybe
If you look at the new SA line it kind of makes sense now why they buff it so much. To compensate for this stealth change.
tbh i wouldnt even care if shadow refuge wouldnt be so broken right now… completely useless atm
It actually does look like that’s what they’re doing. They’re capping how much stealth you can get from stacking it in a row and giving revealed when you exit from what I can tell… I like the change, but if they do that they might want to bump some of the base numbers a bit. I definitely wouldn’t mind stomping stealth spamming pretty harshly, but each use should be effective at least.

I personally think so as well – i kinda hope it actually
because as long as Shadow Refuge and general stealth stacking aren’t kittened up (like they are rn) not attacking in stealth would punish you… making “permastealth” impossible
and also the other way round, avoiding the backstab would actually reward you if youre playing as a thief, opting for more (and imo as a thief main also fair+balanced) counterplay
as long as the revealed is not too long though, i’d like 1-1,5s
It doesn’t seem that inconsistent. It seems like it gives you a revealed debuff after you’ve gained 3 stacks of stealth from either blasting or leaps, or 3 additional ticks of stealth from Shadow’s refuge (not including the initial entry) to avoid stacking, and you gain revealed every time you exit stealth.
Seems like they’re trying to make it so you can’t continually stack stealth without leaving it, and you gain revealed upon exit, likely to promote actually attacking from stealth rather than using it to flee. I’m not so sure this is a bug because it’s very formulaic the more I toy with it.
Edit; Maybe I’m wrong, someone said it was confirmed a bug on twitter. That said, I suspect it’s only a bug in terms of not functioning fully as intended yet and wasn’t supposed to go into this patch. Wait and see game, go!

Yeah I responded in that thread with this as well. It basically gives the debuff when any stack of stealth ends. Its why SR is broken. Ive said before, they might have been toying with the idea of a 2 sec debuff when coming out of stealth period.
But it does it as soon as the first stack ends. I dont think they are attacking stacking stealth but likely attacking the ability to immediately stealth after being stealthed. If they are toying around with the idea. If its to stop stacking stealth they would need to change SR to give 15 seconds of stealth at once which would break the counter play of SR which is knocking the thief out of it.

What buffs?

Considering how much they’d buff SA post next skill balance change, I think this bug is more than speculation, but a hindsight of future stealth change. Now you’re revealed regardless of whether you hit a foe or not after you exit stealth.

I’ve seen that too many times. That’s buffing it much or at all??

I don’t consider the replacement of hidden assassin with resilience in shadows a buff.
SA’s hidden assassin might stacks was what made 6 SA kinda work in hybrid builds.
OP is 99% on spot in my opinion. They probably accidentally patched in HoT test files, this change will go live for sure, leaving stealth will reveal you.
This will be horrible since other stealth users on your side will then be a huge risk, have fun getting reveald by your team mates…
What remains to be seen is if stacking will be possible or not atm you get reveald 3 sec after entering stealth no matter what, even inside SR.
If its to stop stacking stealth they would need to change SR to give 15 seconds of stealth at once which would break the counter play of SR which is knocking the thief out of it.
Nah, the counterplay would still be there, as knocking the thief out of SR would still apply reveal.
That is what i fear, that so called stealth bug is actually future feature, knowing anet heh~
Don’t think it is such a smart idea as it will cause:
- dungeons groups not wanting thieves anymore
- in wvw and pvp only s/d will be somehow playable
- overall only real team support from thief is gone…..
I understand stealth mechanics are annoying but no other class has to be immune to own defensive mechanics every time they use them….. I know i am doomsayer but i do think that no matter what specialization they would bring out, if this stealth mechanic really going to be introduced, they might as well delete the class.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they wait until next week during the elite- specialization stream to “fix” this, and reintroduce the stealth fix as a “buff”. They just want to use this time now and the feedback from the general population to see whether or not to actually go through with this. So it’s a (trial and error) sort of deal. But hey that’s my opinion.
None the less if you’re a t1 skilled Thief Fix or no fix you’ll be able to adapt, thus still being able to kill.
Edit: I also won’t be surprised if they magically revert the 4s pvp reveal back to its normal 3s with the upcoming fixes and elite specialization introductions

The biggest joke they advertise tourneys like mad and meanwhile make 1 class handicapped /slowclap
Why does it remind me on those port changes patch in China that caused massive complains and got changed at last second before going live on NA/EU servers.
