hey, im a new thief, and for now im interested in d/d i feel my kiting isnt good enough…anyone got suggestions?

I don’t recommend leveling as dagger/dagger. I’d do sword/pistol and shortbow. Sword/pistol gives you a nice blind puddle to stand in while you whack up to 3 melee mobs down and shortbow will hit up to 3 targets from range.

I recommend waiting until 80 to mess with dagger/dagger because it’s single target and works better if you can reliably get behind mobs.

What is your ranged weapon you want to kite with?

i dont have any, i mean always moving, rolling, striking,moving.

You’re not kiting unless you’ve got a ranged weapon…

I guess you can pick up infusion of shadows and cloaked in shadows and “kite” with your stealth.

Just do this rotation, CnD back stab 1 full auto attack chain repeat

Usually when you break stealth, the target will miss from the blindness and get 1 hit in if they attack fast and you’ll be able to land a CnD again

Kiting is when you run at a distance from a melee mob and it never hits you, but in the meantime you are killing it from range. You don’t want the mob too close or too far, and it follows you in a line, so it’s vaguely like flying a kite. You can try this with a shortbow but you won’t do enough damage on your own.

If you want to attack in melee and stay safe then you’ve got plenty of options as a thief. Smoke, pistol whip, cloak and dagger, can all be made to work. If you’re wanting to use an off hand dagger then get traits from the shadow arts line to help you when going into stealth. You’ll be able to use either a sword or dagger as main hand.

As an old school gamer I disagree with your definition. If you are damaging the mob in ANY way and leading it around to avoid getting hit you are “kiting”. Your method of delivering that damage i.e. bleed from a melee hit, poison from bad breath etc. is irrelevant.

You can also shoot cluster bombs over your head I you didn’t know. If your in a nasty situation and running away, just select cluster bomb and direct it behind you. Yiur thief will magically shoot a now over his head.

This is not optimal, but as a d/d kiter, you’ll be dodge kiting near your enemy (which I’d actually term dodge tanking, or just dodging :p).

Take Caltrops.

You might consider 15 in acrobatics for more dodges
You might consider 10 in trickery for more caltrops on dodge
Use dancing dagger when enemy are not in caltrops

Use leaping death blossom a lot. Stack bleeds.

Also, you can perma-cripple 2 targets simultaneously just using dancing dagger. the dagger will bounce twice between them, so, double damage and double cripple duration.

They will never reach you, and you’ll never run out of inititative. However, damage was nerfed by 50% (waaaay overnerf IMO), so it’ll take a while to kill them with just that skill.
