I don’t think anyone enjoys it, could be worse though. Speaking of which, what sigils do people run on their underwater weapons? I gave up and just slapped force on both of mine but I was thinking one that proc’s chill may be nice for chasing people down, and possibly the new torment runes as no1 stays still underwater.

I always thought that our stealth utilities like shadow refuge were disabled underwater because fields weren’t allowed. Then I saw the npcs in the new living story dropping them all over the place. Shortly after that I realised that warriors are able to use banners etc underwater… Just rolled my eyes…

run double spears with sigil of energy and withdraw / sigil of precision / infiltration / roll for iniative. and just spam 5, occasionally dodge / steal up so iniative can regenerate

Thieves are situationally perfect and more often awful underwater. Balancing is mainly done for SPvP so the awfulness of thieves in some PvE settings is not going to happen soon.

As a thief, underwater is in no way bad. I just through on signers and charge in. Harpoon gun #2 is awesome, and if a warrior is trying to stab you to death, spear 4 for a counter and overpowered attack, and #5 for evade and heavy damage (I hit around 7k the last hit).

there is pvp map that requires you to go underwater——try to fight necros or engis there

Used to be nice till they deleted our only 2 skills that kept us alive. Unless you spec into ini increases all the way to make up for the nerf. Now you’ve got to play a certain way on land to be effective in water since builds don’t autochange when submerged. For Spvp I used 2 Spears with energy sigil and ini on swap trait, but I might have to change that since I switched back to dagger and flushed my swords down the toilet in prep for the next nerfbat. Maybe it’ll be better though with the passive ini boost but if they notice it go back to the way it was from that they’ll probably nerf it again.

Speargun does some nice range damage with #2. Actually wish I could use it on land where I can actually use utilities and build around it. The Damage and weapon skills are better than Pistols. 1200 range too, woo. Oh well.

Wet Thieves suck cuz nearly all our utilities get locked, your current build most likely won’t exist anymore, 1 stealth skill (hide in shadow), no stealth attacks basically~ they barely do anything, no elite skills other than venom. Funny how they nerf us but not ranger immortality in water, which is without a doubt, extremely broken.

Also how come Guardian can summon a giant sphere around them, but shadow refuge can’t do the same? Sure it’s ground target but that could be altered to just cast where you are. Warriors can summon banners in water this way~ the ground targeting is disabled and just lands on top of them. o.O

It’s obvious that we are just simply hated and not worth the effort of improving.

That’s exactly wat I was saying about warrior banners etc.

Wat annoys me the most is that other classes are aware of this. I’ve had several people in wvw lure me into the water and either manage to make me run, die or they simply escape. Extremely up in the water. Mesmer clones but no thieves guild or trap? Aoe banners but no refuge? Hide in shadows but no blinding power? Wut?!
