what is the best build for a thief in wvw?
Every patch there is a nerf to thieves. As for the best build for a thief in wvw, d/p is still the most popular i guess. But if you actually want to have fun and be effective, just roll a warrior or guardian and get buffed every patch instead of nerfed

Your death are probably due to:
1. Conditions being down-right absurd at the moment. Not only are there so many, they are also easy to apply and tick for crazy damage numbers.
2. Everything is AoE. Be it CC, Condition spam or just straight damage. Nobody needs to aim anymore….just cleave your damage in the general direction of your enemy and win.
D/P is down-right better in most situations even if I hate the stealth-mechanic it relies on.
In either case make sure you’re running with the condition-cleanse utility rather than the “blind on stealth”.
I’m not saying it’s the best but i’m using my own creation:
fluid strikes is a huge dmg bonus, also encourages you to dodge regularly, since u almost got full uptime on vigor its pretty handy.
you can replace signet of shadows with signet of precision but i like the movementspeed.
you can replace V in trickery with IV.
i also use d/p against warriors, works perfectly fine with that build, not much 5 + 2 backstab spamming though since i rather focus on blinds.
This is what I am running in WvW. Team support.
I actually roll in the zerg with the melee train and have enough survivability to do so. This build is mostly for team support as you give fury, might, and swiftness every 21 seconds to allies. I have found it to be pretty effective and a lot more fun to play than your typical D/P spec. Though it does take some getting used to evading though the enemy zerg.
