who is famous theif player
The patch only came out a couple hours ago. Most people are still tinkering with everything, so theres likely not a single post patch video yet
Edit: video on thief home page

His last vid was 5 months ago and the vid before that was 5 months ago.
Jumper is another popular high level thief, but it doesn’t look like he’s posted anything in a long time. I’m not sure if he even plays GW2 anymore, lol.
Caed had something posted a month ago, but I don’t think there’s been any word if he runs anything different now. As the other poster said, many people are still testing things out since it’s less than 24 hours since the patch even came out.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if many thieves stick with what they were running before or reroll to another profession.
Here are the twitch streams to some of my favorites.
Caed NA – http://www.twitch.tv/narcarsis
Magic Toker NA – http://www.twitch.tv/magictoker
Sizer EU – http://www.twitch.tv/sizer2654

Some good youtubers for WvW
Amonatory – https://www.youtube.com/user/BLNTGw2
Tylox – https://www.youtube.com/user/KorimorSWG
Yishis – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCspfGg3_fCOuVxIMvWWBEOw (pretty over-hyped skill wise, but has good commentary)
Then some other dude who posted some decently entertaining fights
this guy -> https://www.youtube.com/user/ShadowsRefuge
Magic Toker is a pretty popular thief streamer. Definitely fun to watch.
thank you for reply. i’m playing D/D theif. I already saw Yishis’s video but his video uploaded few month ago
do you know anyone who play D/D theif uploading these days? and i enjoy roaming

Nobody goes 5 vs. 1 without a problem.
It’s easy to find good clips if you have hours of footage to go through. That’s why everyone can look good in youtube video.
WvW also is a different matter from sPvP and requires a slightly different skill-set.
Unlike WvW it’s more difficult for personal skill to shine through in an sPvP match since it’s much more of a team-effort and depends a lot more on group dynamics.
I’ve heard of Sizer and Caed, they seem to be at the top of their game when it comes to sPvP. Can’t comment on anyone else though.

I Am Mugi & Shikamaru X are both very worth watching thieves. Shikamaru X posts here often too.

Caed is the top Thief player I know by a large margin.
He still streams on Twitch once in a while so you can see exactly how he handles every situation, including the ones with unfavorable results. Watching him live is a much better learning experience than watching someone bragging on and on about impressively looking, but heavily filtered “big plays”.
thank you all of you ^^
Me.
Amonatory is good he posted a video recently but he only dueled one great person (the ele near the end named serane).
all who replied thanks lots ^^
Jumper is phenomenal. The drawback being that he quit about 8 months ago. As it is now on the NA scene try to catch Caed while he’s streaming or winning the weekly 2v2s.
Lots of people praise some wvw thieves but they rarely stream and those that do are pretty awful.
Like others said, it’s easy to get 1vXX when you have hundreds of hours of footage to go through. Especially running a high stealth intensive thief.

I distinctively remember Caed getting destroyed 1v1 by a lot of WvW thieves. Granted this was quite awhile ago but it trumps your statement.

Where’s the proof? Make big claims show some proof.
I money match people all the time. Bring your wvw thieves and come farm me for gold. Message me in game.
Ask Caed how his fights with Xeviel went.
There are more WvW thieves that wrecked him as well.
In fact lots of the sPvP “pros” get wrecked when coming to WvW

While playing in spvp servers?
Doesn’t matter when its same class vs same class.
I seen caed duel in a tourny a couple weeks ago, he is way overhyped I was not impressed at all.
you make look like 1vs1 is the most important thing of spvp, wich is not.
What you’re saying is very true, but what use would you be to a team if you can’t beat a decent player to cap a point? If you can’t win a 1v1 for a point then the only thing you can do is help your team nuke a player.
Doesn’t matter when its same class vs same class.
Kinda does when the first player can hit for absurd amounts of damage due to crazy stats in WvW
i don’t believe he/she makes videos and idk if they are famous. but i’ve fought a thief named plop plop plop plop plop? sorry if i missed a plop. in yoloq and solo and good grief..i’ve never got wrecked so hard so many times. i got the chance to get advice/tips on how a thief should act with pvp and scenario’s on how to play smarter with a thief. great thief and probably one of the best in my book
I think it’s funny that tons of these ‘superior’ thieves are just letting Caed farm all the money and gems in the game. He’s won over 24,000 gems in the weekly 2v2 tourney and $2,500 through the PAX tourney and also won the flight + VIP treatment at PAX.
So if there are clearly tons of better thieves why let him have all the glory? Rotations are extremely easy for thieves to learn. Caed rarely team fights so that’s sort of a moot point too. Are all of these wvw thieves just too busy to farm the high end prizes in GW2?
Start winning thief tournaments or any sort of tournament or money or gems and perhaps you’ll have more ground to talk.

Are you caed’s agent? if not wow.
I think Lux has the point. Suddenly there are so many pro thieves!
he doesn’t , if anything most of those “pro” spvp thieves are overhyped , none of the ones i’ve came across have blown my mind , caed included.
WvW is where the best thieves are , period.
I really don’t buy the argument that WvW is somehow the place where the best thieves are. If you’re measuring best thief by whoever can troll random people running around or who can win pointless 1 v 1s, then sure, you’ll find lots of thieves who can do that there.
If you measure thieves by who can best help their team achieve their objectives, then you’ll find results that are very different.
This is also why you builds in sPvP that are very different from what is used in WvW. You don’t need to boonstrip daze in WvW nearly as much when you don’t have to worry about clutch-kick a stomp and instead you can utilize stealth a lot more for personal gain since you don’t have to worry about contesting nodes.

Fighting upscaled enemies and legendary heroes is cool but when you wanna see true skill then watch some tournaments.
His agent? I don’t even like Caed nor his style. I don’t think his rune choice is optimal and I think he makes some poor rotation decisions in matches. I think Jumper was two tiers above everyone who played this game.
That aside, Caed has proved consistently throughout the years that he wins when it matters, at least on the NA side of things.
But sure, go ahead and grab a partner and beat him in the weekly 2v2s. He’s won over 24,000 gems from those the past few months.
Or, you know, beat his team in the legendary tournament for a free legendary weapon. He’s the best player on his team so if there are tons of hidden pro wvw talent form a team. Rotations are ridiculously easy. It’s even easier if you win your team fight and 1v1s.
If.
Just because some obsidian sanctum Shadow Arts hero abusing bloated wvw stats and 3s revealed can beat Caed on his trickery build, doesn’t mean they’re the better thief. Just sayin.
How can people say that Caed is a bad thief? Lol?
If a player is abusing Shadow Rejuvenation to constantly heal to full during a 1v1, then it doesnt make him any better than his opponent.
I seen caed duel in a tourny a couple weeks ago, he is way overhyped I was not impressed at all.
I’d agree he’s over hyped, but hes actually really good and plays thief with the highest skill cap possible.
The tourney he was in had a majority of players using Shadow Arts III as an alternative to Shadow Rejuv. He also lost to a notably good medi guard which is the direct counter to ALMOST all melee thieves, especially those without Shadow Arts.
To play devils advocate, you lost first round in both tourneys and lost to a warrior which isn’t an overly difficult fight given the weapon sets you use. Granted, I was not present at this tourney to see whether or not you ran your normal setup. If not, I’m not really surprised by the outcome.

I ran a build I made on the fly, and lost to a m/s lb warrior. Not a big deal I lost fair and square. But, when I watched caeds fight he literally didn’t do anything to the guardian with either one of his builds he played.
Shadow Arts this , shadow art that , not every thief wants to play Yolo 1 shot backstab builds , some of us actually give a kitten about sustaining ourselves , condi removals and such.
It might be fine for you spvpers but in WvW you won’t be able to do any serious roaming without SA , given that 1 out of 2 people you run into is condi heavy ( Terrormancers , perplexity thieves or engis , PU mesmers etc..).
Caed, Lowell, Jumper are the best thieves in gw2 history, but i think only Caed is still active. No other thieves can match them in a long run.

This holds true for NA only though.

didn’t Lowell play on EU, i think only at the end he switched to NA and after that he stoped playing.
WvW is where the best thieves are , period.
No. Not even close. Lets see some of these Wv3 thieves do the same thing in sPvP with no food and no disparity in gear because of ascended.
I’ve -never- had a problem with a thief in Wv3 and I used to roam on a daily basis, I cannot say the same for sPvP. Thieves in Wv3 are a dime a dozen and there have only been a handful that I could even suggest were highly skilled or gave me a run for my money.
Trickery Builds > SA builds 1v1 bar none
Shoot I’ve had easier times against the SA thieves than the Lyssa pr0 daze spammers who thought it took some magical skill to do. The other great ones were the 3 spam thieves….
Either way Caed is far from the best thief to ever play. Don’t make excuses for em or claim some stupid reason why he got smoked.
I seen caed duel in a tourny a couple weeks ago, he is way overhyped I was not impressed at all.

If he’s overhyped, it’s definitely not happening in this thread, lol. People are either saying that he’s one of the best with his accomplishments used as proof or they’re saying that he’s really terrible/bad/etc. without saying who is better.
Look, he’s not the only good thief and he’s definitely not perfect, but he’s at least one of the most accomplished thieves in the game and aside from random anectdotal arguments otherwise, this shows him AT LEAST as one of the top thieves.
But as soon as you name someone on top, you’ll always get hordes of people trying to tear them down. (especially on forums, lol)
I also love how nobody has mentioned Kronos Xnm in this yet. He won two high value tourneys, and he proves day in and day out he’s the best thief in the game.
If anybody has the chops to prove they’re better, PM him and duel him. Record it and post your “victory” here.
Caed really is no good, nor is any player who relies on D/P. That’s sad. A lot of thieves mentioned here are better than Caed, including Amon.

It is funny how all of you are arguing without really understanding what the OP is asking.
@OP:
You need to be more specific. Best thief for what? Conquest mode, 1v1, small group fights??? The answer depends on what you are trying to learn.

You and I both know that a medi guard is a REALLY tough fight even with Shadow Arts. I wouldn’t expect caed to be able to do anything against Aldix with a 10/30/0/0/30 ogre rune setup. Everything is going to be blocked, dodged, blinded or mitigated whereas Caed is like 200% vulnerable to even sceptor AA damage. That fight is the epitome of an uphill battle.
The same cannot be said about a fighting a warrior for this specific instance.

The flaw in your logic is someone did beat the guardian. On a thief. And went on to win that tourney. So. By real logic, that guy is the best thief.
But by all means, conveniently leave that part out.

I rarely have trouble with medi guards, and Caed was using 30 in SA not his other build. I beat the guardian with 10 in SA just for a fun duel, but caed didnt stand a chance.
