Considering all the frustration and hate i see and all the flaws thieves have now is it a good ideato main a thief?

I’ve had no problem with it in PVE.

Not at all. Your main should be, whatever you enjoy most. You can always build your alts for fotm or efficency.

The longer you think about this, the more complex the answer gets..

I didn’t really decide who to main, I was about to leave the game “Meh, all 3 classes I leveled so far are basically the same, the game is the same everywhere (strict PvE player) – But I promised to create a thief” – he became my insta main, I wanted to delete all other chars and never create any other (but did to learn how to kill them).
Everybody who knows me knows that the best they’re getting is a thief. Worked so far, but I don’t play pvp – I probably would have to switch to D/P to do so – but if I were into that mode I could do it, that much I know.

Also, there’s a balance patch coming up next months (I guess ~3 weeks from now)
But (that is the complicated part: ) a lot regarding this game and thief is currently going wrong – so you can main whatever you like, the game is still broken. And I’m not so sure they’ll find a way to undo all the wrong they did in June and with HoT.

So: If you main a thief be prepared to be frustrated for a very long time.

ETA: And then some more, ‘cause the moment thief is only 75% broken, rangers will flock into this forum and demand nerfs. Problem is; They’ve got good chances that these nerfs will be made.

u shouldnt lump all thieves together. as i main a thief since beta and never got frustrated or anything about it. in fact its quite the opposite.
when i created my thief just after the beta, i wouldnt play any other class till 2015. when i started to put pve on the side and do pvp only, i created the other classes. not because i didnt want to play thief in pvp but to get to know other professions better and know what they do. after i played all the other classes for a while i found myself back to my thief all the time. i like the other professions too but none of them required such a improvisation and reaction then him. so i got bored of all the other professions and enjoy my thief in pvp every day.

It’s actually better to main a thief, it gives you the most return on good game play. So it means you will learn the game mechanics a lot faster and when you go into pvp with another class later, you’ll be a lot better because of your main.

I still main Thief, just not in Spvp anymore, Fractals or Raids. XD I don’t do Raids anyways though. So normal PvE and WvW Teef. :P I’d use it in Fractals anyways but I use my Revenent instead since he’s built with Agony Resistance. My Thief is full of WvW infusions for Power and Vit so I can’t use him because of that, so it’s not cuz of unviability but because of poor game design.

WvW was nuked by atomic bombs and is a wasteland currently so I’m not in it as much nowadays.

But I’m on Thief now currently standing in the Grove. It’s warm here.
