I’m actually surprised this hasn’t been addressed as of yet. My 2nd 80 was a warrior, and after a lot of testing and playing around in Spvp (mostly pug games since Tpvp is all about dat bunker builds) I just Found 1h Axe+ shield a deadly combo…I mean it has Faster atk speed then 1h swords + the highest dmg per hit then any weapon…that right there I find confusing, fastest atk+ highest dmg, odd.

I tried glass cannon 100b specs and idk I simply found that build too confining…while I could build a slightly tankier warrior, still bring zerk and burst down people just as fast with 1h axe 1 atks + F1 ability (which can hit for 5k+ on heavys)

Idk just the 1h axe/ shield combo is so easy to get 28k-30k hp/2600+ armor/ and still around 3k power/40% crit chance/50%+ crit dmg…and do around 1300-1900 crits per 1 skill…Yet from other classes – Players I only find complaints about 100b…1h Axe doesnt root you and provides a offhand (shield gives a closer/stun+ block so imo is the best offhand)

So Is axe dmg on warriors a bit off atm? should it be edited or are there bigger issues to resolve first…Also why arn’t there more 1h axe warriors (other then it’s not very useful in Tpvp)

Its fine because they don’t reset and cover distance easily.

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?

The mace has higher damage ‘per hit’ than the axe.

The point of the axe it seems is basically to do direct damage and little else. Swords use bleeds and mobility, mace causes weakness and gives control skills, axe just plain hurts.

Axe only has higher “per hit” on auto attacks compared to sword. Every other auto attack hits harder (even mace) as well as the 2 handed weapons. The advantage is that axe swings alot faster so it does the most dps. Axe only brings damage so it makes sense; you don’t get additional effects like the other auto attack chains.

Alot of people bring axe + shield on their secondary set anyways, so its not uncommon by any means. Nothing beats the mobility of greatsword though. Every other weapon combo aside from ranged is prone to being kited easily

Call me when this game gets fixed…. if it ever does….

Well yeah, Axe does crazy damage but I find the lack of mobility almost crippling for PvP. I only play WvW but I find that my sword kills people just fine while having the ability to chase or escape. It might take longer to kill but I don’t care, end result is the same.

I’d probably like Axe more if I played with some kind of organized group, like a small skirmish team taking camps and killing people, then I’d have some support and Axe would be amazing. But I think that’s fine because you have to get the utility to support the damage from somewhere. It’s opportunity costs. Like those allies could have more damage if they didn’t have to support me, but then we’d need me to bring Sword/Horn to support their damage.

Thing is you have to get near enough to use it in the first place, and also I would like concrete proof of this amazing build where you say you have 30k hp 2600+ armor with a 40% crit chance and 50% crit damage. We can all type words but the proof is in the pudding or lack of it.

I mainly solo WvW with axe/warhorn as main damage, it’s amazing and kill people near instantly and you don’t lock yourself in place at all. You can immobilize and cripple people from range and use your burst skill to cover distance with a side bonus of crazy damage. It’s the best weapon in the game. Also with warhorn curing conditions and your axe immobilizing along with bolas you don’t have an issue. Then if you do you just switch to GS and run away until you are good to go back in.

So axe is all win all the time.

As far as i’m aware, it doesnt unless you have the trait – Immobilize on cripple.

It’s quite simple really, crit GS warrior – knock them down with the utility skill stomp – use 100B while they’re downed and then all there is left to do is press F to finish them off. Easily hit for 15k plus on WvWvW, if they surive (very very unlikely) Immobilize / cripple with skill 4, dash with skill 5, finish with 100B. Be it guardian, healing shouter, tank – they don’t survive. 100B + Knockdown = Unbeatable

axe hits hard cause it scales best with power most gear gives power so it compliments nice. sword uses condition to make up lack of dmg it ticks bleeds. mace hits hard but slow and offers some support skills. like everyone else said axe really has no gap closer so in order to close gap you have to use another weapon in weapon swap, or use a utility, or waste a trait for the imobalize but even then thats only 1second. anyways either way you go your wasting a trait could be better used or burning cooldowns so i think its pretty fair.

I was gonna post the exact same thing, I run with sword or axe mh with shield, depending on team make up and 100b 1on1 isn’t a problem at all.

With Vigor, you can kite an Axe Warrior from here to New Zealand. The damage is fine. If you don’t know how to kite an Axe Warrior, then you deserve to be hit for 5k eviscerates imo
