Hey what’s the trick you keep doin on the Elite Banner? Never saw anybody do that, you get the buffs without using the skill?

You use it, then cancel it half cast by sheathing your weapons. War banner actually gives the first pulse of buffs before the banner actually lands putting it on cooldown. It’s a massive hassle though so id say only do it when you can’t do anything else.

But there are quite a lot of variations of this build, where some are running another Endure Pain, DotE, or something else.

Here is the variation of what I’m using, just to give you an idea:

So, I advise you to experiment a bit and see what suits you and your playstyle.

We can’t be sure if it’s an exploit, because we don’t know if it’s a bug, and will need confirmation from ANet on that.

Devs don’t see it as an issue when we showed them it almost 2 months ago.

So now I use it as perma swiftness for the group when we’re roaming.

I only burst under 2 scenarios:

1) I have a full duration Skull Crack (so I need to keep track of stun breaks, stuns give +50% crit chance) -> Swap to sword, auto attack 3x -> Final thrust -> Tremor -> Auto Attack x2-> Swap weapons -> Shield Stun -> Auto Attack x2 → Skull Crack -> Auto Attack -> Daze.
By myself this can bring someone down to about 30% hp, with a team its a sure kill.

Ah ok, i was thinking you had furious speed to get sprint. Canceling on warbanner really does not seem legit, I really doubt it was intended to be used that way.

Surprised on the devs response, I am sure we are gonna see it slip into a patch at some point

Yes, sadly bugs and cheese groups killed alot of competitive players interest in spvp. I would like to see stuff like that quickly patched, even the warrior one which I totally agree is not doomsday.

Ultimately, Its an abuse of mechanics that skews balancing ( I am talking big picture, not knocking you at all). To truly be an esport the refs/gms/devs have to be very reactive on fixes and balance, otherwise it forces everyone to play dirty or leave.

The fact they followed through on warrior clean up from last patch is huge, I just wish they would have talked to us a bit more and clued us in they were looking/adjusting etc.

In any event, kinda got derailed a bit, great video, thanks for posting it.

Cant wait for patch! I have about 4 sets of armour for wvw, I have a feeling I will be trying a new one before night is over + 500 builds :P

Just because they don’t act immediately doesn’t mean it’s not an issue. I don’t care either way. Just don’t try and sugar coat it. Own up to what you’re doing.

Yup there are bigger exploits going on, no that does not make other cheats ok suddenly.

The devs will have to pick priorities at some point, I think they picked pve sadly

Ok I think I was to blunt with this.

No one cares about minimal things like this.

Exploits like the block bug giving guardians the ability to live forever. Teleports through walls / structures. Necromancers getting life force before the game starts.
Guardian infinite blind.

These are game changing bugs / exploits that everyone used for months.

4 seconds of swiftness on a 2second cast is so far down on the ‘we really don’t care about that right now’ list that it’s almost inconsequential.

That only time its remotely useful is if you have banner up and are going from one point to another, and want 9% more movement speed.

If anything, it’s more of a gimmick than it is useful.

I fully understand what you are doing, and the relative levels of abuse that can range from minor glitching => abusing poor game mechanics => exploiting defects => 3rd party hacks.

Obviously an esport cant have any of it going on and be legit. The consequence of using a minor glitch is the shades of grey, it puts you in bed with the heavier duty offenders.

Anyways it was a good video, I am clearly not saying the banner was the key to anything you did.

I do hope arenanet clears up the large scale exploiting and glitching at some point.

The game play should not all revolve around working a bug, warnings and patches need to go out faster (bugs always pop in, thats life, no good team should touch them).

The whole thief and mesmer classes are basically exploits of broken stealth mechanics and teleport hacks and you guys are worried about a bit of swiftness?

How about teleport stomps? Shadow step stomps? and of course..stealth stomps/distortion stomps..

Sometimes I think some wars deserve to be repeatedly stomped..

Yah, good idea, it’s not easy to make the most of a build without a guide. Looking forward to reading it!

For all those accusing Defektive of exploiting, we went to Sharp in the mist, on his Chaplan name and showed him this directly.
His response was " That is cute. I will show Karl tomorrow."
I am pretty sure swiftness chaining is not a high priority issue.
If anything you guys should be complaining about the fury, but that is another story.

Very much enjoyed the video. Tournament PvP in GW2 is wild intense, and I’m very much looking forward to finding/watching more as time progresses. It also provides a lot of interesting insight into the “esport” aspect of the game. But that’s another discussion.

Thanks for the upload. And the whole banner swiftness “exploit” discussion is irrelevant at best.
