3% Burst should be Boon Hate.

The 0.1% Burst you get per trait point should instead be boon hate.
It should also be buffed to 0.2% per trait point
You want a passive 6% damage boost per boon?
Great, that’ll make all Guardians popping Save Yourselves take 111% extra damage!
and the new mechanic should be something else, like… Heal for 3% per boon, per critical hit.
That would be rather broken.
Hit a Guardian who just popped Save Yourselves and you get an instant 42% heal, all while probably killing him in a matter of seconds.

Except he has aegis, so the first hit will be blocked. Then you can use your invulnerabilities.

Discipline tree does have good traits, however the bonus .1% Burst damage per point it provides is extremely underwhelming …

0.1% – 3% is less then a stack of might.

The only thing one could say is wrong with discipline is the bonus but people don’t pick trait lines purely for the bonus stats.
Versatile Rage + Fast Hands is an amazing game changer for war, Mighty Defense is fun with Shield, Heightened Focus is widely used, Signet Mastery is too and likely will be used more now with the signet changes, Mobile Strikes is also a great treat if you can fit it in, Burst Mastery is something you form a build around…
I could go on but it’s rather pointless. Have you ever actually looked at your posts to gauge how they are interpreted or do you simply feel the only way to get across a message is to sensationalize it to the point it’s a lie?

i agree with this change, the 3% burst increase is useless and you’d have to be crazy to take the current 3% per boon trait over 20% faster burst CD + less adrenaline cost trait

This is actually what I was thinking when the trait was implemented. I don’t think I’d ever want to bother busting a bunker when I can just burn down a zerg faster with my longbow burst or just get more mileage out of my sword burst…and it’s basically the staple of a Rifle build now…
If they were to change the burst bonus stat into boon hate, it likely should stay at 3% and ONLY apply to burst skills.
LOL WAIT, you also post stupidly OP balance suggestions on other class forums besides Thief? I had no idea! Kudos to you for the diversity!
all is vain

Guardian still has Protection Boon so damage would be quite less AFTER Aegis blocked the first attack and removed another 3% damage increase. So the Guardian would take about the same as a normal strike of damage except still have all the Boons to mitigate (Regen, Vigor, etc.) and have spike offensive (Fury, Might, Retaliation) output.
Anecdotal, after running a 30-point Discipline build for a night there is definitely something still left to be desired. It does help (in WvW) but at rather large cost elsewhere (the main issue is the 25-point Discipline trait is rather weak). I’ll keep trying different variants of the build over the next week…but after last night, I am skeptical if it’ll be used heavily. Having it baseline Brawn would in essence fit better and the mechanic would help the majority of Warriors to at least half of what it’s current form is. [Empowered a 10-point Tactics trait (and something you personally Boon control) is definately feeling far more valuable overall.]

We should have a trait that gives us one boon removal per adrenaline bar for a total of 3 per burst with added crit damage or crit chance per adrenaline bar.
That is the only way our ‘boon hate’ will come close to other classes who had it since launch. In fact, we should be better than them since they have range and multiple escape abilities.
Think that is OP? Boons are applies all the time: Look up ele..every 9 seconds they get their protection up! A lot of guardians have retal up most of the time! Engy elixir users have very short cooldowns and get tons of boons from 6-8 skills. Mesmers and necros can completely remove all boons -mesmers can remove boons from a full group AND remove conditions from a full group at the same time!- with a utility skill and now thieves remove AND steal two boons with a regular weapon skill with zero cooldown.
The new trait: Destruction of the Empowered (DOE) seems like absolute trash. 3% per boon on target? Guess what..if they have protection they will have to have 11 boons on them in order for me to overcome protection. Even a guardian can’t have more than 7 boons max, usually with their biggest shout. So at best you will be hitting BELOW average damage on him! Wow..that’s a game changer.
And what if they don’t have protection and no 11 boons? Attack of opportunity gives 10% damage on bleeding foes and if you go high zerker in that tree they will always be bleeding. So what they did is they gave us an ability that is worse than our existing one.

I like how its 3% per boon, but if the target has aegis, it doesn’t matter.

Boon hate should have been setup to ignore boons. This % system is worthless if the target has aegis or protection.
And a high % would be op against someone without prot/aegis. Imagine if it was 6% and against someone with swift, fury, might. 18% bonus damage is too much
Additional 6% damage a boon would be ok if it was only on burst skills, but then it might just be encouraging bursting again.
The way it is now isn’t too bad imo, although the above idea of having a % chance to ignore boons during calculations is very interesting imo. That way it could be both offensive and defensive by having a chance to ignore protection or the additional damage from might, but how would it work for something like swiftness or regeneration?
As for how it is now, it’s not really worth less for things like protection. Sure that boon is still reducing damage, but you’re still reducing its effectiveness.
Edit: Maybe wars should have just gotten armor penetration like they did in gw1? Say, ..3~.5% a point?

It would be better if it REDUCED damage you took by 3% instead.

Are you talking about that as a trait line attribute boost the OP wanted, or as the grandmaster trait? Because if you mean a passive 3% damage reduction a boon from the line, that could be too strong. Some classes have have 2~3 boons up continuously by default, so it seems like it’d be too unfair.
Besides, the problem is about bunkers using boons, not offensive boon stacking.
