It seems a lot of people like the Signet of Rage or the Battle Standard, and I agree they are both good. I’ve recently gotten enough points to purchase a 30-pointer if I choose, and I’m wondering if they’re worth the investment. So I’m looking for some discussion and input regarding the two 30-point elite skills available to a Norn Warrior:

There’s Rampage, which turns you into a Juggernaut, but is it as great as it sounds?

The other one is called Become the Snow Leopard, which appears to be merely a fluff skill, though I think it includes stealth.

Rampage is sort of like the stability stance on a long cooldown that takes away your usual attacks and replaces them with junk.

pick what you think is cool – it will all be moot as you play more. You get tons and tons of skill points. I’m sitting at around 185 skill points right now for example.

IMO, after using all the Elites, I always go back to Signet of Rage. Banner has a very good purpose in sPvP/WvW with a good team. Juggernaught is good for when you need that 20 seconds of Stability (hello, griefers on the WvW jumping puzzle, say hello to my kick). Even the Asura racial elites/mistwolf can be useful for that extra sponge and damage output (Powersuit needs a buff or longer use timer).

But at the end of the day, those 3 buffs from Signet and their ability to give perma-fury and perma-swiftness (with other parts of my builds) means Signet has the most direct impact…it’s a crutch but it is a nice build crutch nonetheless.

EDIT: Buy them all, try them all is my recommendation.

Snow Leopard is worthless. Do not buy any of the Norn elites, unless you just want to waste points to say you bought them.

Signet of Rage is a really great, low cool down self buff. I use it over the Battle Standard because of the cooldown (and also to have constant swiftness while exploring).

Battle Standard is really great for group play. It give you an AoE rally, which is wonderful when you’re in a pinch, and the AoE buffs.

The content you are doing will determine which you should.

Group play = Battle Standard
Solo/PvE = usually Signet of Rage
Any content = never, ever, ever Norn elites (seriously, theyre just bad)

Rampage is very good in WvW if youre the type who likes wading into the thick of battle, doing bit of harrasment and still live to see another day.

The amount of CC you get in Rampage form is also very good for locking down a single target. Not to mention it almost doubles your health pool. <3 Having 52k Health.

I dunno man. I feel kind of tricked into wasting my time unlocking other elites when everything is pretty crap compared to signet of rage (especially in pvp). The banner mechanics are clunky and on a timer instead of being a “kit” like engineers. Also you have to keep manually reapplying the buff every few moments because it only lasts for a few seconds.

The human hounds is pretty nifty, but I make it a point to never use anything I cannot use in pvp so signet of rage it is. Jugg is pretty poo for the CD on it. If the CD was half of what it is then it might be somewhat ok.

The human hounds do a kitten-ton of damage, and they are usable in WvW, but not sPvP. The 4-minute cooldown is their drawback, but when they’re on, they hit like… well, like hellhounds.
