A 'Tanky' Warrior
block with shield and mace? dont really understand your problem, you feel you are not as tanky as other warriors? need more information..
your observations are wrong. if you’re full pvt gear and defensive builds, then its literally not possible for others to take damage but 2shot you.
sounds like you just need to time dodges better, and learn better positioning in fights.
I’m half kitten healing gear and half toughness, and I can basically face tank most bosses. Maybe some more detail would help.

full P/T/V will put u at 27k+ health and 3300+ armor, tbh i dont see any skill that can two-shot u.
i run p/t/v with soldier rune, some knight gear but will turn into p/t/v soon, shout heal traits, 26k health 3200+ armor, not as tanky as expected but feel very sturdy(maybe cuz i m a fat charr )
Thanks Wakka. I’ll try Soldier’s with healing shouts and see if that makes a difference.
For example, running TA. I’ve seen other warriors stand in groups of spiders/nightmare hounds and swing away with their GS and be fine. I try the same thing, dodging when I can, and I’m down in a couple of seconds.
Could it be an aggro issue? I have noticed, since making the original post, that I seem to pull aggro much less frequently on my mesmer that’s rocking Zerker gear. I read somewhere, can’t remember where it was, that Toughness plays a big part in aggro tables.
I’ve tried shield/mace Steelo. I can survive a little while longer with that weapon combo but then I feel like I’m hampering my team because my damage is negligible.
Maybe food with “heal on crit” effect makes a mess with your observations. It’s very popular in combination with GS. GS warior has high attack speed and high crit rate = high healing. I’m really curious how warrior will look in dungeons when they nerf “on proc” food.

Cool. I’ve used it before… DPS is incredible ridiculous
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)
The problem is not your gear it’s an aggro issue.
I run full p/t/v as well with 30 in defense and toughness runeset. In dungeons everything focus’s me. The amount of toughness you have is the main indicator on who has aggro. Other things play a part as well, but its mostly how much toughness that determines it. The higher your toughness, the more aggro you will have. So you are not getting 2 shotted, you are just getting hit by EVERYTHING simultaneously.
If you wanna test it for yourself…go into a dungeon with people with less toughness. At any trash mobs or boss or whatever, stand at range and have your friends initiate and go into melee range. The mobs/boss will switch focus to you. AOE will still hit the others, but main focus on attacks will be on the person with the most toughness.
I understand why A-net did this, as the person with the most toughness can handle the incoming damage the best, but it does get annoying at times when EVERYTHING is hitting you. It’s especially annoying in wvw when fighting an invader and even tho everyone is using aoe and hitting nearby mobs, the mobs decidely trot over to you to harass you instead.

Not
Anet do not made any of aggro-system. Aggro from mobs - really randomly. You may recieve aggre if you are closest to the mob or if your DPS was biggest in the last second - nobody knows it...

A quick look on the wiki will prove you wrong. Or better yet, just test it yourself. Gather together gear with high toughness, then get beserker set. You will find a big difference in how often mobs and bosses directly attack you
I’ve tested it before (full Invader with Soldier runes, Hammer/GS) in dungeons with Berserker mates. Mobs very often drops me in their minds and trying to kill my mates.
And I see now Arena-style, so I will not wonder if they made it (like most in that game) in the "Made in China" style

I actually find this to be the case as well, especially if if I’m the only melee in the party. Having a second person up front does help a lot but usually any ranged enemies still stack on me IF I’m the one getting stacked. Sometimes its someone else always getting stacked. I’d have to agree that it is probably not your build or armor being inefficient : )
Simple: It’s not with stats that you survive in GW2.
This is also true for Warriors, and there is absolutely zero reason need to go P/V/T in any content unless you want to gimp yourself.
Actually, having high armor seem to be an aggro magnet.
To prevent damage you must use your defensive CDs (Endure Pain mostly), dodge the big hits and it helps a lot to use food/sigil that steal health on crit.
In this game you must actually pay attention to what’s going on, look at the animation of mobs to see if they’re channeling some big hit, look at AoE circles, predict incoming spike damage and prevent it, etc.
It takes some time to learn this when you’re new but then it gets pretty automatic.
It’s pretty funny tho that people is so used to traditional MMOs where you simply buy all defense gear and you don’t die even if you stand still.
Since posting, I’ve decided to shelve my warrior. I know people say it’s the ‘noob’ class because it’s so easy to play but for me it’s proved to be nothing but a source of frustration. I’ll stick to my ele/mesmer instead. Light armor and they still die less.
I appreciate all the input from those of you that tried to help. Cheers!
Hey folks! Started with warrior as my first character but hit 80 and seemed to hit a wall. Watched other warriors around me take damage that would two shot me and haven’t been able to figure out what I’ve been doing wrong. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! In other words, how do you guys do it?
Some info on my build/armor:
Full P/V/T Gear (Weapons, Rings, and Ammy included)
Full defensive build (Went with healing banner style)
Tried out all sorts of weapon combosThanks!

1. You might have been hit by tons of vulnerability
2. Rendering issues – so it is not just one warrior attacking you but a battalion of passing zerg.
3. … if you build it right, i think you can face tank 3-4 ppl easy. Not kill them, but they won’t kill you unless you’re new to… dodging and running away.:3

This build is what i have been running and doing a great job. Thank you Dontain

You can do so much better than 27K and 3300 armor, besides you will arguably have the highest amount of unbuffed power attack.
Check the thread Near Invincible Warrior, I replied with a screenshot there to see how high your stats can scale when fully equiped exotics and ascended PVT with Soldier Runes.
