Advice for dps war?
Do note that this is THE glass cannon.Which means you’ll deliver a world’s worth of punishment, but you’ll be very easy to kill.
What’s a pretty common dungeon setup for utilities? Including the heal? I’m hitting the point where I’m transitioning off a deep strikes axe build into the zerker gs build I’ll be running at 80, and I’m unsure what to pick up. FGJ is a no-brainer, and then I assume I’ll need at least one slot for signet of stamina/balance stance/endure pain depending on the fight.
The heal, 3rd utility, and elite then are what? I’m thinking signet of regen, banner of discipline, and signet of rage. But all three are up in the air, as I know a direct heal, banner elite, and a different utility or banner can be more useful.
If you’re planning to do dungeons, use the “Knight’s” set with Emerald accessories. These grant Power, Precision, and Toughness. Defense is VERY important, so you want as much Toughness as possible!
For runes, use a Rune of the Soldier set which removes conditions on shout usage.
You will want to trait 30 into Tactics and 10 into Discipline. The rest of your traits can go anywhere else. This setup is important because 10 Discipline grants 20% less signet cooldown and 30 Tactics not only provides extended boon duration, but also decreased shout recharge, regen banners, HEALING shouts, and PERMANENT 13 Might, Fury and near-perma swiftness!
This setup allows you to do varying degrees of support and offense. One strategy is to combine Signet of Might, For Great Justice, and Signet of Rage for the perma-might, fury, and the swiftness. Another strategy is to conjure up banners to buff and regenerate allies.
However, the pinnacle of Warriors are the shouts. Rune of the Soldier removes conditions off of all your allies whenever you use a shout, and the healing shouts trait grants your team 1.25k HP each time you use a shout.
DPS in GW2 matters most when you can actually stay alive. Feel free to go “Glass Cannon”, but support is the key to DPS in GW2!
I personally believe this image to be true:
Please don’t be a glass cannon in a dungeon. Picking so many people up off the floor is getting bad for my character’s back.
Please don’t be a glass cannon in a dungeon. Picking so many people up off the floor is getting bad for my character’s back.
Blame the player, don’t blame the build.
Good players can play glass cannon Warriors without dying more than anyone else.
They’d probably reach that point sooner if they lived longer in the mean time. Plus when everyone shows up relatively well armoured, the dungeon usually goes pretty well. So unless you organize with a guild or are very selective, it’s a reliable approach. Of course, sometimes you end up being the only one who’s relatively well armoured. That can get sort of complicated…
Yeah sure. If you care about being useful, ALWAYS have Balanced Stance and Endure Pain or else you blow up easy.
I use the Karma set (Power/Vit/Tough) with Soldier runes. Zerker Jewelery, Zerker Weapon. I may not do as much damage as those glass cannons, but 1 simple mistake won’t have me dead either. 0/20/20/30/0 – FGJ, Shake it off, Endure pain, Signet of Fury. Seems to work for me and I’ve never had any complaints.
This is also not really a DPS spec and much more of a support/stay alive while damaging spec.

Try using Kights class armor Power/Prec/Toughness with runes of your choice, ( I use Sup, runes of the pack) With Beryl trinkets Power/Vit/Crit damage. weps are up to you but I like carrying a beserkers rifle/ greatsword and then kngihts class axe/shield and hammer switching depending on what i need or am doing.
Traits I do 0/20/30/0/20 getting greatsword mastery and the one that add prec for every unused signet, endure pain at 25%, adren when hit, switching between hammer and shield mastery depending, faster signet recharge and increased crit chance of 9% when adren is full.
I use Mending, For Great Justice, Bal stance, Signet of Fury (never use this free 130 prec or about 6% crit chance) and signet of rage (keep this and FGJ spammed makes for about an 8 sec down time for Fury)
With this You should hit 3,100+ attack 70% crit chance 70%+ crit damge 20k+ hp and 3,100+ defense (stats vary depending on what weps I use but this is with beserkers GS/rifle)
and of course when asended gear comes out theses stats should go up. Also note that if you never use burst skills like me then taking 10 out of arms and putting those into strength is also viable for running around (reduced fall damage) or for killing things (beserkers might 12% attack added when adren is full) makes for having 3,4-3,500 attack pretty easy while remaining survivable.
