I am a new player whom just hit 80 and have come across some confusion. I went to the Karma vendor to buy some gear (Berserker Armageddon) and could not help but notice that many of the set bonus’ refers to chill duration. Is there something about Warrior that I have missed? Am I looking at the wrong Karma armor for Warrior? Is there a skill that chills that I simply missed? Feeling like there is something obvious that I have missed and don’t wish to dump all my Karma on gear that I didnt need. So any advice on gearing my new Warrior would be appreciated.

I am currently using Berserker Pearl sword and bow as weapons. The rest of my gear is ready to upgrade.

You were probably looking at the temple armor from Grenth, which automatically includes Superior Runes of Grenth, which add to chill duration. You’ll see it, not only on heavy armor, but all armor classes and stats from that particular vendor. You can always replace the runes with the ones you want, but it’ll destroy the Grenth runes in the process. Which is fine, because warrior don’t really have access to chill anyway,

Keep in mind when buying karma gear, you can’t salvage it. But exotic level 80 gear all has the same stats as any other level 80 gear (depending on prefix of course) (i.e karma gear, crafted, dropped, etc.)

Getting karma gear is a great way to gear up your characters for cheap(ish). If you have the karma. Get the gear with the stats you want, and put in the runes you want. Depending on which runes you are gong for, it could be fairly cheap, to REALLY expensive.

Appreciate the prompt reply. Are there vendors that sell the same armor but with different Runes? Or is it simply one of those unexplained oddities that we deal with by replacing the Runes with ones of our own choice.

You gotta get the gear with the base stats of your choice, then pick a rune set that complements. Changing runes is basic in the game, and usually follows the current meta.

Depending on whether pve/wvw, there are different builds. Different guilds have certain specific builds.

The TP, or WvW, will get you different exotic gear with proper stats for your builds. Orr temples offer different gear stats at different temples.
