I generally prefer ranged/support builds, so I put this together modeling it after the myriad of ranged warrior builds I have found, wanting it to be very crit heavy while being able to provide support for a group via might, increased critical chance and damage, and high party fury up time (through banner skill).

Serious feedback is wanted, I’ve only had a chance to test this build in the mists (as I am not an 80 warrior yet with all the listed gear) but I enjoy the play style and it seems to endure well enough in most situations.

Hello,

As you’ve chosen a standard knight/Hoelbrak setup, and mention support for group, I assume you target this build for WvW group-roaming? You’ve selected PvE in the build description, so I’m not sure.

In the perspective of WvW roaming, I fear that the build might have issues:

  • It is based on ranged weapons, yet the skills you use (“Shake it Off”, “For Great Justice” and “Banner of Discipline”) have a max radius of 600, meaning you need to stay melee to have your party benefit from it.
  • You have no stability, and only one stun-breaker, so if you get controlled, you’re possibly dead (all the more you have low toughness).
  • You’ve selected “Deep Cuts”, but your build clearly is a physical damage one. Did you intend to rather have “Crack Shot”?
  • You have zero points in Defense, so no Cleansing Ire, so no adrenaline when hit nor cleansing on burst. Your cleansing ability is “Shake It Off” only, i.e. one condition every 20 seconds, and you do not equip the “Berserker’s Stance”, so you’ll melt if you get focused by a condition user.
  • You have taken “Vigorous Shouts”, which is consistent with your two shouts, yet you say you want to provide might for your party, in which case “Phalanx Strength” seems more interesting.
  • You have selected “Warrior’s Sprint”, but this works only for melee weapons, not the longbow or the rifle.
  • For the sigils, you’ve taken intelligence and force twice – but you run “Fast Hands” (a good idea here), so you’ll have cool down issues (the sigil CD is 9s) in your weapons rotation.

Basically, if you want to stay ranged, you’ll have limited support for your group. Even casters are supposed to be mobile and move around the impact, so won’t stay near you at all time.

I’m not saying that a pure ranged build isn’t possible! It certainly is. But you seem to want to make too many things at a time, thus reducing the effectiveness.

HTH.

Double range..So what will happen when you get jumped by a thief or rather by 2 people, one up in your face while the other is kitting ?..You can knock him back once with rifle maybe..and when he backstabs you again while the other guy is laying constant dps on you ? Youre pretty much screwed right there. You cannot lay on constant dps with double range with a warr if someone is right in your face and running around you in circles, you will cancle out Every rifle skill and are stuck with throwing aoe’s from bow on the ground,in which case you will be using one weap and the other weap is rendered completely useless at this time.I know what youre trying to do,but it won’t work in most scenarios..It will prob do fine vs range classes, but in WvW all you spot ( When roamin atleast ) are lots and lots and lots of thieves where a double range build would be quite useless.

Besides you have your trait set up using warriors sprint while you do not have any melee weapons equipped…meaning the trait is completely useless and will not add the provided speed bonus. The traits overall are just not really well setup for a double range build…i’d suggest to rethink your entire build and traitsetup ( youre not even using stability..at all which is quite bad,you need stabi if you want to be useful ) )and maybe drop one of the range weapons for a melee weap just incase,i’d suggest to drop rifle if you do.
