Dear DEVs,
As a long term warrior and who has spent over 3,276 hours exclusively on a warrior. I am more than familiar with them. This is an easy profession to pick up and play if its your first character. It is also easy to play for the average person in most game modes.
I remember Jonathan Sharp once said if a class is that easy to play whats going to happen when a pro gets a hold of it. The thing about that comment is it doesn’t take much to be pro at warrior.
What I am getting at it takes a lot more practice and skill to be pro at most of the other professions. At the pro level other professions > Warriors. Players come on these forums constantly complaining that warriors are over powered but these are not players at the pro level. I think warriors have a advantage over novice players sure but that is not because warriors are overpowered. That is because the skill ceiling of other classes is much higher than the skill ceiling of warriors.
It was nice witnessing warriors going from free kills to real contenders at the pro level. That being said all that you had done to bring warriors into contention at the top level has been undone. Warriors have been the subject of a witch hunt for months and little by little you caved and brought them down further and further and further. To the point that In my honest opinion they are not in a significantly better place now than they were game launch at the pro level. That wouldn’t be such a big deal if other professions hadn’t received so many bug fixes and buffs to.
I have watched all of this focus on bringing down warriors making their skills highly telegraphed nerfing their damage across the board breaking every single warrior build that they had and while other may read this and identify that this too had happened to their class. They need to understand that they started at a position from day one that was much higher than warriors. While warriors started at the bottom were given some tools to help them be viable then those tools were take away. Where as other classes may have never had a viability issue from the beginning.
I will end this with saying that ANET you really disappointed us this time, you joined the witch hunt against the warriors and caved to the whiners but you never addressed the issues that warriors have. Bugged skills like Rush Bulls Charge. No sustain outside of Healing signet+ adrenal healing. The compassion trait line minor traits are extremely bad and the stats that it gives are not super beneficial to a profession who already has insane amounts of HP. Warriors give up so much to run shouts Johnathan sharp said that warriors have shouts so that they have plenty ways to sustain themselves but failed to state that doing so doesn’t make them more viable.
Cleaning Ire is very good but again instead of addressing the issues with it we get a new grandmaster trait to remove blind on swap. Again you never addressed the problems only gave us nerfs. And outside of cleansing Ire and healing signet warrior has nothing that will resemble a viable build at the pro level. So they are still faced with the same bugged skills and traits now with additional nerfs.
My suggestion to DEVs ANET is try playing your game and watch who you are listening to because you have received a lot of very bad advice and ignored a majority of the good advice since its the loudest people you heard whining that were not experts or in a position to be giving advice. about things. And before you start focusing on nerfing all of warriors skills and traits that dont work that help them fix all of the broken ones that don’t help them at all.

I play the game. I get owned by warriors. That’s all I need to know.
I wouldn’t of minded the nerfs so much, if they actually fixed our god kitten buggy kitten skills.
Its just sad really. I am a veteran Warrior myself, I laugh when I get called a noob because I am Warrior cus atm, killing anybody is like the hardest thing ive ever had to try to do in this POS game after this patch, I get so many condis piled on me and I cannot remove them at all. Anet will not, and has not ever listened to anyone, I said it before when the Damage Control post AKA, CDI and the mass censorship came out “If they really wanted to listen to people they would have done it a long time ago”. Need I say more on it?
It’s good that you have played 3,276 hours exclusively on a warrior, but if you had instead played 400 hours on each of the classes, it would be painfully obvious that while warriors have problems, the rest of the classes have just as many and probably then some.
Don’t get me wrong, I completely agree that there are things that should have been fixed or improved a long time ago, but like it or not, most people do not play at a professional level, and since warriors are incredibly easy to master, as you’ve noted yourself, Anet needed to ensure the viability of other classes and/or builds on the average level.
Making sure that they stay competitive at every level is obviously important, and I’m certain that Anet will work toward that goal in the future. Now get in line behind all the classes who’ve been getting the short end of the stick pretty much since release.
