Add more weapon types into the game with HoT ?

Why GW2 should not use Land Spears, GreatAxes, Flails/Morning Stars (guess this works similar to mace), Shurikens ? and theres a lot more i forgot…

im pretty sure the community would love to have these in the game.

If the lazyness to develop these new weapons are because of balance issues, i guess GW2 won’t ever have anymore new options and combination combat style for the classes.

I can think of a few reasons. Maybe they should FIX somethings before bringing in NEW stuff. Dont know anything about lore, maybe it just doesnt fit? I think there are enough weapon types and skills. Even profs getting new weapons is kind of too much as most likely, some weapons will become sub-par to others in almost every aspect. Think about off hand axe for warrior as an example, You dont get more DPS or utility or defense from wielding it with a main hand axe cause AA is too kitten good. You would be better off with a shield mace or sword. Similarly a land spear, would replace rifle or longbow if it is ranged. Or it wouldnt be used at all if it is just subpar.

Its all about playstyle, you need to think about entertainment and playing “the way you like”.

I know a lot of ppl who uses axe off hand because they like to, not because if its better than a shield, a lot of ppl play games for fun, others to be competitive.

people uses what makes more damage, if new weapon result in less dps and low cc would be ignored by most if not all, how many meta build in guardian actually use mace or shield? mostly use GS or Hammer having more weapons not being used does not help the game.

I don’t see why not adding new weapon types makes them lazy. I can think of alot of reasons why they didn’t. One thing the OP is missing is the fact that Anet could add alot of content to the game, but if it’s meaningful or not. Adding more weapon types is really not that meaningful.

The only weapons I see being added to(or would like to care for that matter) are spears for land use and two-handed battleaxes. Everything else is just ‘diversity" for the sack of diversity when its not really needed, in my opinion. I’ll take ‘new skills’ over ‘new weapons’ any day.

Anet’s the driver of this bus, and they are at the end of the day, the best person to answer these questions. That’s not to say they won’t acknowledge suggestions, opinions, and other against-the-status-quo ideas.

Honestly, I don’t care about getting more weapons. What I’ve wanted for maybe two years now is chooseable weapon skills. Let us choose our 2-5 skills (I prefer a pool for each weapon so you get a risk-reward based on cds, but realize it’d end up being 2-3 options per number instead for balance). But make it so you don’t have to have only control effects on a hammer, or could lose some mobility on the gs to gain something else (heck even if it was just a different type of mobility skill it’d at least be a choice).

That would give us more than enough customization, and make it a lot harder to say, “oh that war is using a hammer, must be a hambow”, and that’s true for any class.
