Anyone here use a shield?
The build in my sig uses Mace/Shield with reflects, it’s good fun. I like to use the Braum’s weapons, the shield is fancy.
Old Man Burr (War), Bad Hat Ben (Engi), Manly Manny Manson (Guard)
A guildie of mine uses shield in dungeons and is decently successful. Couldn’t help you on the build tho. Knowing the mechanics and how you want to use it should be what you use in making a build that works for you! Good luck!
In WvW I run GS/ Sword&Shield. Works very well, great mobility, and destroys a lot of things.

wow so rare to see GS/Sw warriors although its a pretty effective roaming set , salute to you m8.
Which game mode? In dungeons, shields aren’t that hot, but vs players, it’s a great off-hand weapon. I play Axe/Shield and Hammer in WvW.
Sw/Sh + LB in WvW here.

That’s a build purely made to run away, not to fight.

Build or Set ? there is a difference.
if you are using GS/Sw just to run away then reroll to thief or mesmer.

It fights fairly well though. For a WvW roaming build it offers great camp clearing and solid damage output. Yes, the mobility it offers means you can run away rather well, but it also allows you to move from objective to objective quickly, as well as stick on a flighty opponent during a fight.
For OP: Shield does find a use in a few PvP builds, at least. Axe+Shield/Greatsword, Sword+Shield/Greatsword and Sword+Shield/Longbow are solid WvW options that you can try out (A/S+GS and S/Sh+GS are power builds, S/Sh+L is more of a cele/condi build).
Mace/Shield+GS is another option that was very popular a little while back (Again, a power build). Shield is a solid PvP choice thanks to having both a block and a leap finisher stun, both of which are very useful in a fight.
PvE tends to focus a bit more on raw damage output, but then again a downed player doesn’t do much damage. If you’re learning fights or feel like you’re taking too much damage, you could probably run a shield in PvE without sacrificing too much output.
S/sh + GS here is my fav setup, sometimes just to troll i put 6 in Arms just for the 4s quickness add one CC and see them melt xD .

I don’t really play it for running, I mix in a mace depending on the play style im feeling, but I like its manuverability, feel, and versatility. It does help with running, but I only run in an impossible situation. But as I said, I will run axe and mace depending on how I’m feeling.
I run full pvt, trinkets and all. It works pretty well. Gives me tankiness since I tend to fight outnumbered most of the time. I hit 1k with GS AA, 3k no crit on final thrust, and my 100 blades hits for 15k on a full Chain. I sit 2,450 power and 3,500 armor with 30k health. It’s pretty amazing actually.
I currently run GS / Axe + Shield on my warrior in WvW (though I have all weapons in my inventory) and I have a good amount of fun with it. I made the switch around Halloween in anticipation of having my wish of getting a Ghastly Grinning Shield skin from the lottery (I didn’t… :’( ) So I splurged and made the Mad Moon shield as a consolation prize.
I dig it.

Power Vitality Toughness
Oh wow don’t you say <,<
Basically perma-swiftness while in a fight, enough precision with food to make your ferocity matter, a good deal of toughness, tons of mobility, a generally durable build with damage that comes close to matching a berserker, I’ve had lots of success with this set up. Remember to switch to your sword when your opponents are low health for a Final Thrust. The Intelligence sigil guarantees you at least a 7 – 10k crit depending on your targets toughness. I have 3 shot quite a few Thieves and glassy Elementalists with Rush → Shield Bash → Final Thrust.

Why Kick over Bulls Rush?
Why Kick over Bulls Rush?
Bulls Rush always does some kind of wonky rubberband lag for me or goes straight through my target. I find it too unreliable to use. Kick is just a personal preference as I find it connects more often than not and you can use it to interrupt a heal then follow up with either Whirlwind Attack, Rush or Savage Leap to close the gap you make.

I run an AxeSh / Hammer roaming and dueling build. It has a balance of CC and Eviscerate burst, with shield being used primarily to help mitigate damage with those kiters. If I get close…well they better have stability or ill kill them outright.

Decent players will kite the kitten out of you, no offense mate. It’s not the best choice in wvw. But its definitely fun.

I really only have issues with a couple roaming builds from thieves and mesmers in the open field, I do run bull’s rush just for the gap-close if nothing else. Also most of the time I intentionally keep my hammer out so that 1-2 guys thinks I am just another hammer warrior coming back to the k-train and they engage on me….
Depending on who it is, Berserker Stance might make all their efforts to shut me down useless as I rush to down one of them, and then go for the other one. It’s totally a ‘for fun’ build, but I know the roaming warrior viably can’t roam alone.
