Are there any decent dps non zerker builds?
Longbow and sword/warhorn condition build is probably one of the best builds for survival, mobility, and damage right now. There are many variations of it.
There’s nothing wrong with zerk anything. It’s more of know what/when to dodge thing. (Also it’s what makes glasscannon/zerk fun, IMHO.) Once you master it no other set for PvE is needed. (Unless a condi based profession/build.)
You can survive surprisingly quite well, just take something like Shake it Off for stuns and a condi removal.
The norms for zerk Warriors is 30-25-0-0-15 or 30-10-0-0-30. Armor full Berserkers and trinkets. There’s a bit of a learning curve at 1st that turns some off, but the ones who stick to it swear by it. I love my Warrior, it’s my main.
As for brusier type builds I wouldn’t know any, sorry.

High dps, high survivability. Can solo champs.
-constant condi removal
-constant evades
-isn’t boring(opinion)
-great condi damage
-some team buffs(might stack, you have 2 blast finishers)
p.s. I swap the master discipline trait in and out, depending
im sure their is a con to this build, I just don’t know what it is
“Berzerker” builds are more a function of gear than actual trait and skill setups.
If I recall correctly, the following build has the highest DPS in the game (It may have changed now):
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNAnZRjkOtvZPKPMxBAzDhCqoLDqYSfYOA-jQyAYfBRCCAJCiKAm8KiGbhrIas6aMlLRUt9uIa1SBExyI-e
If you want to be tankier, use more defensive gear.
For something different, try 20/0/20/30/0. Very tanky and applies every damaging condition:
Distracting strikes for confusion on interrupt.
Runes of the guardian for burn on block.
Sigils of doom for poison on swap.
Sword/sword + Mace/shield for 3 blocks, 3 interrupts
Banner traits for max regen.
Cool points for not running hambow or standard bunker.
Was all knights armor/wmelandru Cavalier trinkets/backpiece and zerker weps close to 4k armor.

I would not consider that build “high DPS” decent DPS sure, but calling it high dps is a bit misleading.
But he’s actually answering what the question was
I’m talking from a WvW perspective, but I run some dungeons as well and you can use the build easily in dungeons and have decent survivability and good dps (okay 100 blades is down from 30-40k to around 20k but you’ll survive even if your group isn’t that good). I play with almost everything berserker,I think I have two ascended knights rings but sometimes i swap them out if I don’t need them. Play 0/20/20/0/30 and you can play GS (always and for example mace/shield or axe/shield or axe/mace and you’ll love your damage and how you’re not only dependend how your mates are helping you. Get used to it, learn how and when it is necessary to dodge and you’ll be fine. Swap in longbow if you need range and just adjust your traits and it will still be great. Throw in some cheap buff food if you need it like Bowl of poultry and leek soup and Artisan maintenance oil. Pretty cheap and works good in WvW and Dungeons. Not sure about fractals cuz I just hate them
Oh and I forgot to mention, for WvW use Melandru Runes for Dungeons Hoelbrak (way cheaper anyway)

Dude, try to play an ele or a thief, just to have a perspective.
After those even full glass war feels like a tank. Especially now that we have OP sustain signet.
Even in zerk warriors are as bruiserish as it can be in GW2.
And no, there is no decent DPS outside of zerk. Any dps tha is not optimal is just unviable, that’s the way of dps.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
It’s basically how the gear and stats are setup in GW2. Every MMO usually comes down to 1 or 2 viable DPS build per class, of course one is always more “optimal” than the other. The less Optimal DPS build usually brings utilities that the other build cannot and/or simply boost the DPS of the whole group/raid so is often required.
With the current content and the move away from the trinity system, Pushing DPS and providing utility can be accomplished with a specialised DPS group and anything else is not really required. It’s simply beter to build for amplifying DPS in terms of raw damage. (vulrn stacks, might stacks, fury) is easier to do than managing 25 stacks of bleed, burn, poison, confusion, and torment) but what’s more is that the direct damage builds already inherently adds those condition damage, making icing to their DPS builds.
Even if there are multiple viable builds the gearing and stat system has no diminishing returns to speak of where in other game balancing out your stats matter since at certain point another stat would be more valuable than the other. Then you go into the condition builds, you have to compete with other class who simply does condition damage which may or may not block out yours nothing but bleed stacks in intensity and even that has a 25 stack limit. But the increase of 0 condition damage to 1500 condition damage on your stat is weak (roughly 66% more damage per bleed tick I believe)
Warrior’s have high base health and armor, so if you’re doing a direct damage build you might as well go zerker. An elementalist in full Soldiers is no more tanky then a warrior in full zerkers in a group setting where both are getting Protection. So take advantage of that and go full damage on your gear.
Personally, I often use Knights armor with Zerker weapons and jewelry, though I have zerker armor in my bags for serious stuff.
When you see people constantly calling for “zerker war zerker war zerker war”, they’re actually asking for the specific top dps weapon/trait build which also happens to be wearing full berserker gear. You shouldn’t feel conformist or glass cannon just by using zerker gear, adjust your trait/weapon/utility load-out to how you see fit.
This is, of course, assuming you specifically want a high dps build.
Fair enough ,but it is still better than decent dps.
I wouldn’t even call that decent dps. If you’re using full berserker gear your damage won’t exactly be bad, but not decent or even good. You’re losing 300 power, 1.3265 damage amplifiers and gain almost nothing but 5% critical damage (0.85% damage increase overaall) and 50 precision. Furious is worthless because your damage doesn’t scale with your adrenaline.
30/25/0/0/15 is the meta build (30/0/0/10/30 was a possibility some patches ago, 30/10/0/0/30 was always subpar, offering nothing). That has a reason.
@OP: If you don’t want to play 30/25/0/0/15 full berserker, just play whatever you want. You just have to know that you won’t help your party members in dungeons, though, and that open world becomes quite a bit harder. In my opinion, defensive gear/traits give you nothing but take away much.
LB builds adrenaline very slowly, I use furious to help build it faster. And either I am misinterpreting what you are saying, or you don’t know what you are talking about. The higher my adrenaline, the higher damage my Burst skill…but you are probably referring to Berserker’s Power Trait, which is useless because I always dump adrenaline(unless it actually counts towards your burst skill, but you are dumping those three bars so that wouldn’t make sense to me). Also I am a condi warrior, power is a bonus. My dps is good. And I don’t know how you see that all I get is 50 precision and %5 crit damage(idk where you got that from, the CritDmg)
I made this build to solo open world while playing with my favorite weapons available to warrior. Sword/sword Longbow. One o my favorite toons now.
Once upon a time I used zerk wartard for cof p1, I hate GS Axe/Axe. So boring to me…and simply not fun. We are all entitled to our opinions on what is fun, and what isn’t.
You’re a condition warrior? Then i can tell you your dps isn’t even “not bad”, it’s just awful.
you started criticizing my build before you even knew what it was lol your opinion is now irrelevant. you really don’t know what your talking about
you started criticizing my build before you even knew what it was lol your opinion is now irrelevant. you really don’t know what your talking about
U said enough it´s easy to know now what your build can do, and what not. And “decent dps” is 1 if this impossibilitys.
Furios is a pretty useless trait, using F1 skills too, even Axe F1 if u´re berserk.
If u are using LB F1 u should do conditiondmg. And Conditiondmg is not “good dps”.
It´s funny, not picking a 15% dps increasing Trait that is so strong that no F1 skill is used in PvE and saying that u can do more dmg without this trait.
That´s logical fail.
(edited by Norjena.5172)
OP wanted a build that cant take a lot of kitten and still do solid damage. my build does exactly that. im not sure what your first line actually says, so I cannot respond. I will look into the usefulness of Furious but your silly if you think f1 skills are useless.
U said nothing about a second weaponset. LB only is useless.
Lb with Axe+Horn is a mightstacker only. 2-3Banners+FGJ.
F1, banners inside the field, horn and spamming Axe AA. But this build can´t be good with 30 points in the second traitline. And is not solid DPS Builds. It´s supportbuild.
Furious seems to be bugged/nerfed. last I checked it gave triple adrenaline. now it just gives +1 which is still twice the amount that you would have received. hmmm not sure how I feel about that now. LB builds adrenaline so slowly……… not sure how I feel about the trait now.
And it is not a logical fail. By going up the power tree to receive that trait you lose the other quality traits you picked up. The only trait required for any warrior build is in the discipline tree for faster weapon swaps.
^ I stated I use sword/sword longbow
Yes triple adrenalin is what i can remember too. But it isn´t anymore. It´s only 1, and that´s bad for a grandmaster trait.

Right now I’m using a hybrid build. PVT armor, zerker trinkets, soldier runes. My traits are 10/20/0/20/20. Most of the time I’m running with Axe/Warhorn + Rifle (with shouts, to go with the runes), but the way I set up my traits I can easily switch mt selected traits on the fly to, say, a Longbow or Banner support and still be moderately effective with it without having to seek out an npc vendor to reset my skill points. It’s a hybrid build and can do a bit of everything, but at the same time it doesn’t excel at either high damage or bunkering. I use it in general roaming PvE, dungeon runs, and WvW with no problems. I swap out my healing skill and elite skills depending on the situation I’m facing.
Good thing is, I hardly ever die. The warhorn’s cleanses + “Shake it Off” + soldiers runes keep me and my allies condition-free, which are the Warrior’s main weakness since our heals are a tad bit on the weaker side (in terms of healing % of our overall HP if we’re not built with lots of healing).
Greatsword / Hammer / Spear
0, 20, 20, 0, 30
PVT armor with Melandru runes
Knights trinkets (some zerk for PvE) and weapons
All signets
Enjoy.
Mainly GS with Hammer as secondary.

Berserker Trinket
All Signets

My meta is high DPS high survive. Click the link in my SIG. 3k armor 50+% crit 91% crit DMG 20k hp. 30/0/25/0/15. Tried and tested. It has survived 4 skill patches with zero impact to it whatsoever.
I finished my celestial armor recently and so I’ve modified the trinkets. But in 5v10+ I’m outliving my guardian buddy who is built to survive, while I down one and move to the next while everyone else stomps.
this is a WvW build. However it functions the same in PvE and spvp obviously minus the food.

Any build with decent dps must at least be 30/25/0/0/0 in berserker (or partly assassins) armor, berserker weapons and berserker trinkets. Anything that doesn’t fit those critera is not decent in dps. People want berserker warriors for a reason, 0/0/20/20/30’ish warriors especially in PVT are utterly useless for any PvE content.
I feel like high survivability builds are essentially a crutch. If you just go full berserker straight away you will improve at the game much more easily due to how punishing it is to make mistakes.

There is no way you are hitting crit’s of 40k with that build unless you are fighting ambient creatures.
He’d probably hit for 40k in situations where 30/25/0/0/15 with berserker stuff hits for well over 120k.
I don’t like glasscannons, but I have to agree with these guys sadly. In dungeons you are the damage dealer. However I almost only to WvW and I’ve never fully explored the top DPS builds because I just take what I have whenever I do a dungeon with my irl friends, and usually it works. I do know that the 30/25/0/0/15 hits like a truck though even without full berserker, I can’t imagine the heights of the DPS from that build, I have only scratched on the surface.
The main reason why I stay away from zerker wars is because all I see from them is a tremendous amount of damage but no survival at all, all of the zerk warriors I have seen are glass cannons; and that turns me completely off from them. Do you guys have any opinions on this? Was it the players builds/gear that was making it glass cannon or is it really glass cannon?
P.S I am extremely interested in Bruiser like builds, specs that like to get in there do a fair amount of damage and survive to longer extents. If you guys can provide me with a build like this that would be awesome
I would just use the meta 30/25/0/0/15 build with full zerk, the warrior’s high base HP and heavy armor bonus elevate the build from glass cannon to bruiser.
In between Healing Signet and Omnomberryghosts a warrior is already very surviveable.
You have to dodge certain stuff of course, but if you wont dodge it you will die with a more “defensive” build aswell, maybe not as fast, but nevertheless you will die.

I’ve crit the Mage Crusher for 83,334 with 30/25/0/0/15 so 40k sounds pretty bad, does it not?
This is a build/ guide I posted that is not the max dps zerker build it is very solid for casual dps and solo pve. however it does have the goal of learning the dps meta.

for casual dps
Such words always make me cry inside.
Why would you ever do “casual” dps if you can do optimal dps.

So. Regardless of your opinions on my 30/0/25/0/15 build. It still answered the original question of the original poster. The OP asked for a decent DPS high survivability build, and I provided just that.
there is my build that i enjoy to using very much and still puts out 20k-25k hundred blades while being able to take more hits. yes it may have a lot of zerker gear but the 2700-2800 armor is all you really need imo which you get through the 25 points in def and the knights armor
20-25k 100Blades are a little bit of nothing.
U can´t call a build with 15-30 points in defensive and whatever mixed or defensive armor “decent dps”.
U can play it, it can be best build for u personally. But i will never recommand points in Defense for PvE. Except 30/25/15/0/0 for “older” or “slower” people in open PvE for example.

You misread the thread. You misdefined, and continue to misdefine, the word ‘meta.’ You tell me to “learn to read.” There is a joke in there about a pot calling a kettle black, but in that allegory, the pot and the kettle are both black. In this case, you’re functionally illiterate, and I am not.

40k is fairly week, assuming that is your highest crit. With the current zerker meta a 40k Hundred Blades is nothing to me anymore. I would also like to mention the waste of stats going to 3k armor which should be rendered useless if you can use the Evade properly.
Warrior- Emperor casey
Elementalist- Klyptis

He didn’t misdefine the word meta. He said it was his own meta. If that build for him is on a higher tier that supercedes others then what he said is perfectly accurate. Perhaps before calling people “functionally illiterate” for the way they use a certain word, you should understand what the word actually means.

Actually he did misuse the word in the context of these forums. The word meta implies something that works the best and everyone is using it. You can’t really have your own meta. At that point, it’s just your own build.
