Compared to the last patch, I’m doing much better. I can actually kill classes where as before, they used to out-sustain even berserker mode. However, scrapper is way too strong now. They are the only class I can’t beat as of now 1vs1.

HoT’s release took a dump on warriors and thieves, but with this recent patch is a bit more open.

I’m finding thieves/daredevils more difficult than I did before (in wvw), but yes, a bit easier overall I think.

LOL you can not say this, i saw you in a match and i was impressed since you timed your defiant stance really nice but you lost a 1 vs 1 to my teams necro and DH. I was playing warrior and it was a close fight between us but a thief from my team came in and downed you instantly but you can not honestly say this.

Short answer: No.

I’m a launch player who was originally heavily into WvW. About half a year ago I rolled Warrior and I played a LOT of PvP as Warr during the pre-HoT hype – as in, nothing but PvP for a couple of months straight – and consistently did pretty well, with a win rate above 60%. After the expansion dropped, I played more PvE than PvP but had fun tinkering with some gimmicky Zerker builds. Still, I could see it was lacking, so I decided to wait til the inevitable balance patch. That patch has now come and gone and I’ve tried getting back into it. I now completely understand all the frustration expressed in these forums.

I know I’m not the best player out there but pre-HoT I could easily hold my own. I felt like my presence on the team was very noticeable and that when an opponent saw me, they were getting ready for a serious fight on their hands. Now, I feel outclassed. I feel like I have to choose between the gimmicky Gun Flame zerker, which is EASILY countered, or I have to go with the standard Strength/Defense/Discipline build from pre-HoT. Even then, I feel like a liability on my team. Warrior now seems to bring nothing to the table when compared to other classes.

Revenant: Can go bursty with decent sustain while still providing heavy utility to the team. Basically replaced Warrior’s role as melee brawler with skills that stick to the target or just have better reach. I can handle them 1v1 but they can stall long enough to have their teammates assist, but that’s with me going a build with NO team utility whereas they bring plenty.

Mesmer: In a 1v1, about the same as before. Annoying as hell, can dance circles around me and stall indefinitely with stealth and illusions. Now with Wells for extra kiting power and even more team utility.

Engineer: Scrapper is obviously overtuned right now. Basically a better warrior in every way with more utility and cc.

Thief: I used to stomp these poor guys, but now they got the buff they deserved. Scary amounts of burst in a 1v1, and kitten near impossible to catch, but that’s their role and that’s fine by me. I basically have to drag them into a teamfight where they’re less dominant, and that’s all good.

Elementalist: Tempest brings great team utility but I can handle them in a 1v1 fine. They probably shine more in teamfights though, where I don’t contribute anything better than any other class.

Ranger: UGH, I hate Druid. You can’t start reintroducing the trinity without making them sacrifice something for their new focused role. Heals for days, blinds for days, damage immunity, pet taunt, some stealth thrown in too… I can pretty much never kill them now, and that’s in a 1v1. As a healer they’re meant for team fights so I don’t think it’s okay that they shine so much in a 1v1 situation too.

Guardian: They were good before and they’re phenomenal now. Those traps are too powerful considering almost every PvP mode is a node based game. Imo the cooldowns on their traps need to go up so it’s not as much of a trap spam fest on a contended node.

Necromancer: Basically counters me in every way with Reaper. I’d have to go Shoutbow to clear the condis at the rate they apply them, and then I would have no DPS and would still end up with too little sustain to keep up with other classes. Oh, and then I’d have tons of boons which the Necro would just convert anyway. The only way to beat them is Gunzerker, which has no other realistic application.

I dunno, maybe I just need to learn to adapt to the new elite specs better, but when I’m at the point where my own elite spec feels like a liability where everyone else’s was a MASSIVE buff and change in playstyle… something is definitely wrong.

If it was this week end then it was my ping. I usually play with 140 ping on weekends there is not much I can do. But on weekday it’s a different story. So I stand by my words.

Thats funny because i play with 140 ping on a good day and most of the people in my guild have around a 150 ping. There are some who have a great ping and run around 70-80 but i have actually never heard someone say 140 ping was bad.

Sure I’ve got lots of success..i generally run two build one Condi with wanderer and the other power with marauder..the Condi build with sword torch mace shield and the other one rifle mace shield.. I use these builds during the league and I’m still improve them for the next league..it’s works actually for me, I shared those builds with my guildmates and they had succes too..
The thing is you have yo know when engage and when not plus good rotation and timing other wise you are death in a couple of seconds.
Reusing resilience gives you nice sustain every breaksrun and as warrior we have plenty. Ii generally change few things before the match dye to the map and opponents to adapt the build every time.

Amulet:wanderer runes of:traveler (I’m testing others as well)
Discipline:2\3\3
Defence: 1\1\3

I run a very high-damage but relatively survivable power Berserker build that works best in combination with a tank. When we win, I usually get top damage. Regardless, I almost always get top self-heal. (Yes, this is unranked, because the dang season ended.)

Axe/axe + longbow
Healing Signet + Balanced Stance/Endure Pain/Berserker Stance + Signet of Rage

Strength 233
Defense 211
Berserker 113

Marauder amulet
Rune of the Traveler
Sigils: Air/Blood on axes, Fire/Purity on longbow

Open to suggestions, but so far, this is working for me. Considering swapping out the elite signet for Headbutt, and replacing one utility with Shake It Off.

I respecced back to hammer GS (no rampage) a few days before the patch hit and I run merciless hammer with berserker ammy and runes of strength. Holy hell it hits hard and the reduced CD gives me pretty crazy low CDs on skills, I played berserker greataxe from the day HoT came out to a few weeks ago exclusively and hammer feeeeeels niiiiiice. D/p thief kittens on me hard though, very hard, even with berserker stance bypassing the blinds they can still stall until its completely over and then just crap on hammer with shadow shot and black smoke :S

I regularly dust off h/gs for duels in wvw, and it sounds like we have the same thing going (high dps, merciless hammer, zerk gear w/ strength runes). Works well against some builds that greataxe struggles against, but high ranged pressure is worse, obviously (thus, it’s not ideal for roaming). Greataxe, h/gs, and gs/r are my main go-to builds in duels, and they collectively cover the basics in most fights.

Well played daredevils are the exception due to all of the evades, ports, stealth, etc. vs our slower moving big hits. I find we have to rely on getting one of those disabling or high damage lucky hits, otherwise they’ll outlast our defenses. I haven’t tried a berserker condi build against them though… not sure if that would work better or not.

That isn’t to say daredevils are the most difficult fights (they’re not). Just saying I haven’t found a good avenue to somewhat undermine their core advantages like I can against other builds.

My toughest duels in wvw have probably been against celestial eles with crazy high damage reduction, though probably mostly because of my preference for high power builds. Celestial druids can be rough too, though I find the rifle helps those fights a lot.

The inability to use quickness to flagplant downed state players is still a huge problem when fighting against more than one player in wvsw.

I couldn’t care less about having more healing power. The shorter cooldowns on some attacks is ‘nice’ it was never necessary though. Competent boon strip necro still wreck warriors. And thieves are just annoying as can be presently. They take so much effort to get into downed state, gawd forbid they have a necro or dh as backup. Thieves are also procing straight through my shield with their heavy stuns now…I don’t know how their heavy stuns work exactly but they seem to be able to make them unblockable and it’s beyond annoying to have to proc an endurepain/stun remover twice in a row to deal with them when they hit you straight out of stealth out of nowhere. In other words they take too many abilities to kill now..putting you at risk to any other players present.

I see competent gunflame berserkers with Gs and rifle doing quite well though……..I don’t see how we can call that a success story though.

The thieves are hitting you with Basilisk Venom, which is unblockable now. Freakier still, they can share it with allies (most don’t run venom share though), which gives all of them the same advantage.
