Q:
Ascended gear- wvw/fractals/dungeons warrior
A:
I’d recommend you get the PtV set and hope that ANet adds stat-switching at some point.
You can still partake in PvE with Soldier’s gear. In fact your DPS will remain quite substantial thanks to retaining your Power. It just won’t be quite as high as it was with Berserker gear. But I doubt it will be a problem. In fact you might actually enjoy the higher survivability in a few situations.
But zerging with Berserker gear really isn’t viable and might actually make you a liability for your group. And I think that’s far less desirable than adding 3 minutes to every dungeon run.
The difference Ascended armor will make in a WvW zerg is less noticeable than the difference it would make in 5 man dungeons. So get an Ascended PvE set.
If you however PUG dungeons only and don’t do them with friends, I’d ascend your WvW stats to help out your buddies.

Go with the PVT gear.
If you can only choose between PVT and Zerker, go with PVT.
Since the purpose of Zerker is to do max damage, and the stats increase is so small, there is just no point in ascended Zerker unless you are rich and don’t care.
Where as the point of PVT is to survive, and the additional armor ascended pieces gives you would help you do that better.
Personally I went with a mix of Celestial and knights, since I can use these for most situations, and different builds.
Exotic soldiers gear will be perfectly fine for wvw. For fractals, eventually, the extra AR will matter. Therefore the upside of ascended pve armor outweighs the upside of ascended wvw armor, not to mention the runes you would use on either are very different and you’ll want two sets anyway.
Full ptv is quite outdated for standard zerg warriors, most frontline war/guardians run a ptv/knights mix with cavalier/zerk trinkets anymore then 28k hp is a waste and anything over 3k armor is well enough if you have any kind of support
Thank you guys for sharing all your thoughts! I have decided to go with a pvt set due to a couple reasons.

Yeh my guild runs WvW zergs daily and want me to get that pvt set. I agree, a berserker frontline hammer warr is a free rally for the enemy lol.
In all honesty, i actually like running a “tanky” build in dungeons too. People say High level fractals 1 shot you anyway, but I doubt I will be that hardcore/have enough energy to go through it anyway, especially not with pugs. H
Having a good zerker group with exotic gear would go through them only a little slower than those with ascended zerker.
Also, as much as i love seeing my 45k hb hits and the seconds long boss fights,i also love being able to survive long enough to fix a mistake a friend or group partner or I made, which is very common in pugs, which brings me to what flissy said —>

The sad truth is that I pug dungeons more often than I do them with friends/guildies, the upside is I have the arah/SE sets that I like for my warr/engi and I only need to do dungeons for fun.
Fractals are a 1s per day thing so yeh, I think you are right in saying PVT would be better to help my guild out.
So yeh, I guess being an ascended zerker in a pug group would usually be a downfall for me since I would end up being a target who has to kite and run away :P

As for the knight’s mix with pvt. I totally agree, it makes more sense and adds more kick into my charging through the enemy lines. But then again, I can replace some of the ascended pvt gear with zerker/knights exotic and still gain almost as much kick as mixing it around. Also, for flexibility, I don’t usually roam, and I would like to think that I am good enough with my warr to be able to do all dungeons and up to medium level fractals with my zerker gear ^.^
Thank you guys! you have been so much help!
What’s up with PVT or Full being the only choices? Go to gw2buildcraft and play around with different combinations of gear. Try to get the highest Epower and Ehp you can while still maintaining a good crit chance and % damage. You should end up with a set that is tough enough for WvW but has enough DPS for PvE dungeons. You can get a really good DPS and have excellent survivability by mixing knight, valkyrie, cavalier, zerk, and a PVT piece or 2.
