Axe/Axe and GS Warrior
I had a friend go From lvl 80 warrior to Guardian, and well….. he never came back =P.
Warrior has superior Dps/Mobility is what we both agree on, but Guardians get all the juicy utility/buffs/heals. Guardians are more viable and wanted in more scenarios, and Guardians can Dish out almost as good dps as a warrior, without losing that much tankiness compared to warrior. Over all though, if you love Hitting stuff hard and lots all day (with not so flashy skills) than warrior is great. Other wise Guardians do what most warriors try to do [to be different] (heal/tank/support) Better.
Axe/Axe is fine in PvE, and GS covers up the missing Mobility, but there isn’t any cc in that combination at all. If your ok with that, than yes PvE wise its a fine build (always carry a rifle/bow for range dps in fractals/dungeons).
I say you could use both equally, and find what really suits your taste, or what you feel like doing at the moment. Like maybe you want to face tank everything, guardian>warrior. Or you want to just go crazy and jump around while dealing Great dmg, warrior>Guardian. Over all its preference.
I for one prefer the warrior over the Guardian…now if the Warrior was as flashy as the Guardian I woud’ve been a Warrior day 1.
CoaxialMazer is indeed somewhat right. Warriors are less tanky then Guardians are(maybe due to almost all Guardians playing that boon healing build? =) ) but they can support(a little). Shoulds and banners are not to be underestimated especially shouts with soldier’s rune and 30 points into tactics.
Axe/Axe is fine…but I myself prefer Axe/Mace. It does not have the fury buff+AoE spin but it got a straight line knockdown which is awesome + 4 vul. skill which works nicely with skill 2(giving the enemy 8 stacks).
GS…I’m not too fond of because everyone uses them but they get the job done. 100b still isn’t that good in a mobility fight against bosses that do not move around like mad this skill really shines(especially if you have high crit+might on crit with GS).
Guardians have more self-healing and easier access to the Protection Boon. That makes them far tankier than Warriors.
Do you even lift, bro?
Yeah Warriors are less tanky, but still, they’re tanky ENOUGH when required, may be made better even.
They’re alot more versatile and definitely more fun than Guardians. They’re the real Weapon-Masters of Guild Wars 2.
Well, There are lots of versatility in many classes, But some could argue either class is more fun. I honestly think warrior has a strange learning curve (starts off easy and plateaus for most people for a long time, and then has a tremendous large steep at the end) While guardians learning curve starts off with a slightly higher learning curve and stays level and steady most of the way. Build wise, i see slightly more options in the guardian department in terms of utility/support/tank, while with warriors, we see a much larger variety of dmg based specs with a few support based warriors hanging around.
To be honest, I think there needs to be more weapons for all classes, even if warriors get to choose from the most combinations, most would argue that even that isn’t enough because of the lack of builds that can be made currently with warriors to a viable level. Either way, both classes are unique to their class views, but i feel warriors are a slight bit lacking in the flashy department =P
[…], but i feel warriors are a slight bit lacking in the flashy department =P
This!
And the thing about not being able to choose from many weapons because of the build variety+the learning curve.
Especially the learning curve reminds me of GW1…IMHO the warrior in GW1 was the hardest but most rewarding class. In GW2..not so much but if well played the warrior is still quiet awesome but the Guardian is easier.
OP if you want to play Warrior and use an axe: use mace in offhand…just a little hint by me but it offers better utility…if you prefer the offhand axe that is fine too(ain’t all that bad but could be better).
