Before I say anything else, I’m returning to GW2 after five months of responsibilities, and seeing how much the game has changed, I’m coming to you guys for assistance.

I’m working on a build that optimizes use of the cripple —-> immobilize trait from the tactics line, and I’m not quite sure how to do it. From there, I want to make use of the off-hand mace’s 5 ability, Tremor, in that a skill-shot knockdown is something I use quite a bit. Additionally, when you pair the above weapon set with the sword/shield set, the sword instantly becomes a gluestick, and the shield is another gap closer with additional CC.

Here’s where I start to have problems. My utilities are all over the place since I see usefulness in all of them. I’ve been using the signets for a bit now, but I don’t know how they compare to actual WvW and PvE combat, which is what I favor. I don’t much like the shouts, but seeing as I’m starting to aim for the 3 line regen ability on the defense route, I might want to use them more often while building more healing power in my gear.

I want to deal some damage, but what with my four weapons being all over the place as far as damage types go, I’m not sure what to focus on. If I focus on power too much, condition damage starts to fall off and my sword bleeds mean nothing. If I focus on precision too much, swords really have no use for it, and half of my weapons would be kitten. At this point, I could focus purely on front-line survivability and cc with vitality, toughness, and healing power, but again, I don’t know where my damage would come from.

Now, here is when it gets super complicated. I don’t even know if the immobilize trait is worth it when it comes to PvE fights, since so many bosses are immune to different sets of CC, that sometimes, I’ll find my weapon sets absolutely useless, and other times, I’ll find them absolutely mind blowing. As a result, I’m debating even going for the trait because of where it might actually be applied besides WvW and select PvE bosses.

What are your guys’ thoughts?

Leg specialist used to not have an ICD at the beginning of the game. If you were here back then sword also didn’t have cripple on the chain or cripple on the leep. You were probably here when they buffed sword and at the same time gave Leg specialist and ICD so it wouldn’t be overpowered with all of the cripple added to swords.

leg specialist is good and it isn’t good does that make since? It is good if you are trying to make a build that uses it and it can be useful. Its bad becasue it is a bit underwhelming now and not as strong as it used to be. AOE hammer shock immobilize anyone?

Onto mace OH.
For PVE the 4 stacks of vulnerability this weapon add Is good for PVE. The mace knockdown is situational at best and not useful on bosses. The mace knockdown also has an proportionately longer cool down than the hammer knockdown. So besides its range which makes it easyer/better at knocking down some players the frequency that you can knock down players is tooooo long for what it does. Where a hammer you can more frequently CC with that weapon. And imo frequency is more important of how often i can do something in a battle is going to help me more.

Looking at your weapon choices if you really want to go down this route.

I think Axe/Shield Sword/Mace is the better combo. Your weapon choices maybe would work in PVP hot join or maybe zerging in WvW. I don’t think its a strong WvW solo build and I absolutely don’t think its a strong pve build. Aside from the Axe/mace part that works fine in PVE but not with how you want to play or do your traits.

In that case, what would the above weapon set be better for? Or what are the issues with it?

I figure I should ask so I can get a better understanding of the current warrior class.
