I think what would make banners more viable is to make it so when you use a banner skill, the banner is attached to your back. Placing a banner on the ground barely has any use, because fights in WvW seem to move around alot.
Idk i think it would be cool to be running around with 3 banners attached to my back.
That’s what I was thinking about today. If Anet wants warriors to use banners in pvp more in Tpvp.
A * give us F2 F3 F4 slots like mesmers for banners
B * place it on our backs so we can use our normal weapons
That way we don’t have to run all the way where we died at to pick it up if it’s on cool down.
Off Topic:
I would like this to apply to Engineers who die in combat that their turrets/ bombs disappears when they’re dead. Instead staying where they’re at for a long duration of time.
Or just reduce the cooldown by half…..

The problem with this argument is that GW2 is is more than WvWvW.
If you want to keep the effect of the banner hold the banner. What’s wrong with picking it up again before moving?
I think that banners and their possiblity to be picked up by allies has great options for team play.
With the new patch the banner of Disciplin can mean +28% crit and regeneration for 95s for a party. Wouldn’t it be overpowerd if you could keep this without any effort?

Well what I don’t like is when I die I have to run to the spot where my banner was left off at instead coming back to when I rez at the starting I can pick it up from there.
It is teamplay, but team members would not carry the banner for long because they rather use their weapons skills instead of the banner skills. The same goes for the warrior wielding the banner. It’ll make sense if it was place on the their backs so that anyone near that warrior can receive the banner benefits.

It’s bad when one of your teammates feel like grabbing the banner and running with it while you’re fighting an enemy on a node and they said
I need this to take another node I’ll bring it back You’re like I need this too ,but they take it anyway leaving you with a did that person just really face.
You lose the banner benefits and if you die you have to go where ever your teammate drop you banner at if you’re skill is still on cool down. It’s much easier if it was to be placed on their backs. This leads to what I was saying in my previous post by adding more options when it’s on your back like F2, F3. and F4 skills only when the banner is on the warriors back.
What if there was a banner trait that, when you summoned your banner, an NPC companion would appear with it in his hands and follow you, granting the buffs? Think Captains from LotrO. But the trade-off is that your npc companion could be killed, and if killed, the banner would be gone too. The companion would be completely passive, and you had no control over it. It simply followed you (and every time you summoned him he’d be of a random race).
If the skills on banners that replace your weapon skills do not get greatly improved banners will continue to be a joke.
Banner Skill #1 Stab: Dopey auto attack same on all banners no secondary effect. Looks terrible was changed from an actual stab animation shortly after release to some horrible underhand sweep animation possible troll change by Arenanet highly probable.
Banner Skill #2: Short duration aoe boon corresponding to the stat bonus of the banner you use, exception Banner of Strength(slow melee attack that puts 3 stacks of vulnerability on target, horrendous whack a mole animation again highly probable Arenanet troll) and Banner of Defense(aoe knockback highly visible animation easily avoidable, is best banner 2 ability would be amazing if you didn’t lose access to your primary weapon set).
Banner Skill #3: Aoe swiftness same on all banners best banner ability hands down
Banner Skill #4: The #4 skill on all banners is called Sprint but it’s the same terrible skill as the greatsword #5 skill Rush almost impossible to land on a target strafing you. That’s ok and most ppl would not complain but you can’t even use it as a disengage because it’s half the range of greatsword #5 skill Rush.
Banner Skill #5: Plant the standard in the ground causing a blast finisher. Semi ok but kind of pointless if there is a thief nearby with a short bow they can spam blast finishers several times in a row if needed.
I get a good laugh when people complain about ninjaing warrior banners in their current form all that person is doing is gimping themselves and becoming the swiftness btitch spammer for the people around them. Hell aside from the Battle Standard they don’t even look cool. Did someone’s child make the banner graphics in ms paint and copy them into game drunk one night?
I support changing them to be carried on the back but only if the skills are greatly improved and don’t null out your current weapon set otherwise just leave them as is and devote resources to some other part of the game people care about.
simple update of banner skills can solve the issue.
skill1 should have condition component.
skill2 should reflect the banner, currently only discipline give you useful buff.
banner of deference should give protection buff. banner of str should give might.
tactics is also silly as it is redundant with inspiring banners (regen dont stack.)
skill3 the only useful banner skill (as stated by ALbandybefore.)
skill4 should be escape skill (evade or cleansing) rather than charge.
skill5 shouldn’t be just blast finisher it should be knockback.
Problem with it on your back is you have to swap to it to get those skills. If you do not require that to happen, a warrior will be able to have that rush skill as well as any swiftness skill always on demand.
While I wouldn’t mind having a banner on my back, I think that to have that option always available without requiring you to stow your weapon or pick up your banner would make warrior a bit over the top.
That would be like having a 3rd weapon. Currently I carry sword/horn in my second set. If the banner on the back with skills avaiable option, I’d drop that sword/horn in a heartbeat and banner it up and slot in a mace/mace with my hammer so I can perma stun any time I 1v1 because I’d have my banner for mobility always on, even while fighting.
Super duper secret manoever with banners that I’d like to share with you:
For the “5 strikes of adrenaline” and “1 stack of might” on weapon swap minor traits in the discipline line… Switching from a held banner to another on the floor by pressing “f” (which takes 1/2 seconds) COUNTS AS 2 WEAPON SWAPS! So if you have 2 banners, you get full adrenaline by pressing f 3 times – or 25 might by pressing f … Umm.. ~15 times.
I’ve only been able to find 1 use for this secret :P …
